What a great night Wednesday at our monthly Board meeting. Recognizing 5 local heroes, helping a family in need, and awarding our very first scholarship to an amazing young lady.

Now it’s time to get back to work. We can’t do all those things without funds raised from the community. We need your help so we can get bigger and better. The more money we can raise, the more money we can distribute to our law enforcement officers in Madison County. Every dollar goes to officers and their families.

Tonight we held an award ceremony and presented the Community Hero Award winners with their plaques. The honorees were joined by family, friends and department leaders and members.

Madison County Law Enforcement Foundation Provides Support to Pendleton Police Officer Kyle Smith’s Family.

The Madison County Law Enforcement Foundation (MCLEF) has made a donation to assist the family of Pendleton Police Officer Kyle Smith during a time of need.

Officer Smith and his wife Hannah recently experienced serious complications with the birth of their twin girls, who remain in the NICU in Indianapolis, resulting in significant and unexpected medical expenses. The financial burden placed on the Smith family was brought to the attention of MCLEF, which responded immediately with assistance.

“This is exactly why we were founded,” said MCLEF Executive Director Kenny Davenport. “When a law enforcement officer in Madison County is struggling, we will do whatever we can to assist them.”

Detective Lance Blossom of the Anderson Police Department wins the May 2026 Community Hero Award

The Madison County Law Enforcement Foundation (MCLEF) has awarded its May 2026 Community Hero Award.

The Community Hero Award was established as a monthly award to be given to a law enforcement professional who went above and beyond the call of duty. The Officers/Deputies are nominated by their Chief or Sheriff and a winner is chosen by a civilian committee.

Chief Mike Lee submitted Dep. Blossom for his investigation of a drug overdose death.

Det. Blossom was assigned a drug overdose death investigation. His months long investigation led him to a known drug dealer. His countless hours of research and surveillance enabled him to gain a search warrant and ultimately an arrest warrant for the suspect. Significant amounts of narcotics, currency and a firearm were recovered. During trial the suspect was sentenced to 75 years in prison, and a very dangerous drug dealer was removed from the streets of our community.
Det. Blossom will receive a commemorative plaque and (2) $50 gift cards from local participating restaurants. He will also be eligible for the Community Hero of the Year Award to be presented at the Policeman’s Ball next year.

“This is one of our core programs to recognize and reward our law enforcement officers in Madison County,” said MCLEF Executive Director Kenny Davenport. “We want to make sure they have the support they deserve.”

The MCLEF Board of Directors wishes to CONGRATULATE Det. Blossom for his dedicated service and outstanding accomplishment. There is no greater reward than to remove a dangerous drug dealer from our community.

What is Madison County Law Enforcement Foundation and where does the money go?

Fair questions. We are a local nonprofit that supports law enforcement officers and their families right here in Madison County.

To date we have assisted two families in need.
Awarded our first $1000 scholarship.
Recognized five Community Heroes with a plaque and $100 in local restaurant gift cards.

Did we say ‘LOCAL’? All monies raised stays right here in Madison County and 100% goes to support our programs above.

CONGRATULATIONS to Holli Klettheimer!!!

The winner of the inaugural Madison County Law Enforcement Foundation Scholarship.

Holli is a graduate of Frankton High School and currently attends the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Her essay was selected from several outstanding applications received from local law enforcement children.

Holli is the daughter of Indiana State Police Detective Tony Klettheimer.

Holli will receive a $1000 scholarship to continue her education at U of Mary.

The MCLEF Board of Directors wishes to thank those who submitted an application. Each and every essay was deserving of winning.
