Young people across Anchorage are cordially invited to a Fantasy Ball just for ages 15-20. Dress in your finest fantasy garb and enjoy an evening of music, dancing, door prizes and fun activities while helping to raise funds for Alaska Children's Museum.

On October 6, 4 to 6 p.m in the Anchorage Public Library - (Z.J. Loussac Library) - Teen Space the Center for Safe Alaskans will be offering free 20-minute computer-based driving assessments. Young drivers can sit down at the Ready Assess station, complete a short computer-based assessment, and walk away with a personalized report showing where they need more practice.

Ready Assess, is a proven assessment that offers:

- A safety score showing how their assessment compares to other teens their age
- Quick feedback on how they handled different driving situations
- Personal tips to become a better driver
- Educational videos
- Better equip teens as a driver by safely exposing them to common road hazards — from the safety of a computer-based driving tool.

Who should attend: This program is designed for teens at any stage of driving experience.

Steven Cornfield is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker known for visually engaging stories. He began his career in design and music, transitioning to filmmaking in 2014. He developed his skills through weekly YouTube vlogs before advancing to professional projects for brands and businesses.

SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN FOR AFTER SCHOOL SPECIAL!

Alaska Teen Media Institute's annual youth film screening is now accepting submissions! Filmmakers based in Alaska, ages 21 and under are eligible to submit their work.

Films must have been made in 2026 and should not exceed 10 minutes runtime.

Deadline: November 7th

All genres accepted, but please be tasteful with your content. Films containing more adult-themed content may be labeled with a disclaimer. Films that include content that ATMI staff deem unsuitable for youth audiences may be disqualified.

The screening will take place during the 26th Anchorage International Film Festival which is happening December 4th - 13th. Exact event details TBD.

The application for cohort 6 of the Arctic Youth Ambassadors program is now open and will close on September 27, 2026!
The target age range for Ambassadors is 18-22, with youth required to be at least 18 years old by January 2027. Applicants must be permanent residents of Alaska. More eligibility information can be found in the application.
