One of our newest residents has spent the last few weeks attending activities throughout the community, making friends, participating in art and gymnastics, using transportation services, building routines, and creating a life that reflects her interests and goals.

Because our mission has never been to simply provide housing.

Our mission is to help people build a life they love.

A life filled with purpose.
A life filled with choice.
A life filled with opportunity.

One of the things I’ve learned over the years is that great care happens when everyone communicates.

Families know things providers don’t know. Providers see things families don’t see. Teachers, employers, therapists, and support staff all have pieces of the puzzle.

When those pieces come together, the person we’re supporting wins.

That’s why we created this Quality Care Communication Journal as a gift to our community.

Whether your loved one receives services through a residential program, attends school, works in the community, participates in activities, or simply has a team of people supporting them, this journal can help keep everyone connected and informed.

Use it to share updates, celebrate successes, communicate concerns, track routines, ask questions, and document important information that shouldn’t get lost in the shuffle of everyday life.

Print as many copies as you’d like and use them in whatever way best supports your loved one.

Because better communication leads to better support, stronger partnerships, and ultimately a better quality of life.

🎬✨ Movie magic at Tikahtnu IMAX!

This past weekend, residents and staff from our Hastings and Little Brook homes packed into the theater for the premiere of Star Wars: The Mandalorian Movie — popcorn in hand, smiles all around, and a whole lot of excitement in the air.

At APAL, days like this are exactly what "Quality of Life for All" looks like in action.

It's not just about care — it's about experiences.
It's about being out in the community, doing the things everyone else gets to do, surrounded by people who feel like family.

A huge thank you to our incredible team for making outings like this possible — and to our residents, who reminded us once again that joy is the whole point.

Happy Mother's Day to the moms who never stopped fighting for their children. 💐

The ones who learned the systems, made the calls, filled out the paperwork, asked the hard questions, and showed up — again and again — for sons and daughters the world wasn't always built for.

You are the reason your child has a voice.
You are the reason they have a home.
You are the reason they have us.

To the moms in our APAL family — thank you for trusting us with the people you love most.

May is when Alaska opens back up ..and we've been preparing our residents for it all winter.

This month at APAL we're focused on community awareness and confidence.

Getting the people we support out into real spaces, navigating real situations, and building the kind of independence that only comes from actually doing it.

Not a supervised walk.
Real community access.

That means practicing:
-How to handle the unexpected when you're out.
-How to ask for help from a community member.
-How to stay safe while staying independent (if possible).

For the adults we support, community access isn't a reward.

It's a skill we build deliberately, week by week.

Today at Alaska Premier Assisted Living, we took time to slow down and enjoy the simple moments together 🐣

Our residents and staff gathered to decorate Easter eggs, share laughs, and just be present with one another. The room was filled with smiles, creativity, and genuine connection — the kind that reminds you what this work is really about.

From choosing colors to showing off their designs, everyone was involved, engaged, and having a great time. Moments like these aren’t just activities… they’re opportunities for joy, community, and meaningful connection.

A special thank you to Staff Kim and Staff Everett for creating such a positive and supportive environment today. Your presence and energy make all the difference.

Today, we celebrated Bobby’s birthday here at the house. 🎂

Nothing fancy — just pizza, cake, a table full of friends, and a lot of laughs. Moments like this are simple, but they matter. Sitting together, sharing a meal, joking around, and making sure everyone feels included.

Birthdays are always a good reminder that home isn’t just about a place to live. It’s about community, routine, and the people you share your days with.

Bobby had a great time celebrating, and we were glad to spend the afternoon together.

One of my favorite parts of visiting the homes is spending time with the ladies and seeing how much they continue to grow and blossom.

Days like this are always special in the home. 💛

Seeing the ladies spending time together, laughing, supporting one another, and simply enjoying the moment is something that never gets old. Over time, it has been beautiful to watch each of them continue to grow, gain confidence, and truly settle into the rhythm of life here.

A home should be a place where people feel comfortable being themselves — where friendships form, personalities shine, and everyone feels a sense of belonging. Watching the ladies interact with each other and share these moments together is a reminder of how important that environment really is.

Quality of life is at the center of everything we do. It’s not just about providing services, it’s about creating a space where individuals can live, connect, and continue to blossom in their own way.

Moments like these are what make a house feel like home.

Happy Birthday, Jamie!

Today was all about celebrating you.

Your happiness, your bubbly spirit, and the contagious joy you bring into every space you enter.

Jamie is always ready to have a good time🎉, always smiling, and always finding something to enjoy in the moment, and today was no exception.

She had the best time celebrating with a pizza party surrounded by friends, enjoying a cake she absolutely loves, and soaking up every second of her birthday song, smiling from ear to ear the whole time.

Watching her light up during those moments is truly one of the best parts of days like today.

We genuinely enjoy supporting Jamie and feel so grateful to be part of her journey.

Seeing all that she does, the progress she continues to make, and the joy she brings to others reminds us why this work matters so much.

Jamie has a way of turning ordinary moments into celebrations just by being herself.

Here’s to another year of laughter, fun, friendship, and doing what makes Jamie happy.

Today was one of those simple but meaningful days that truly fill your heart.

Axenia and Jamie enjoyed a community outing filled with care, laughter, and a little sparkle!

Jamie was all smiles while relaxing in the chair getting her toes done, choosing a beautiful sparkly green that she absolutely loved.

Axenia, rocking her purple shirt, was right there enjoying the moment alongside her.

Kim made sure the experience was special from start to finish, and the day didn’t stop there.

They even had the chance to say hello to Santa, adding an extra touch of joy and holiday magic!
