🎃 Pumpkins, pizza, and a whole lot of smiles at Scenic View! 🍕

Last night, residents from our Hastings, Scenic View and Little Brook homes came together for our Fall Pumpkin Carving & Pizza Party.

We set up tables in the Scenic View garage, passed out the carving kits, and let everyone’s personality shine through their pumpkin. Some went spooky, some went silly, and every one of them was one of a kind.

This is what community-based care looks like to us. It’s not only support plans and schedules. It’s laughing over pizza, getting a little messy, and building real connection with the people you share a home with.

A huge thank you to our care team, Everett, Jeremy, and Kim. They planned, prepped, moved pumpkins between homes, and worked together to make the night a “resounding success” (Everett’s words, and we agree!) 👏🏾

Every medal has a story that most people never get to see.

Most people see the podium.

We see the early mornings.

We see the excitement before practice, the long days, the tired smiles when Emi walks through the door after giving it everything she has, and then somehow finding the determination to get up and do it all again the next day.

That kind of perseverance deserves to be celebrated.

Today, we’re beyond proud of our resident, Emi, for representing Team Alaska at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games.

Competing on a national stage takes courage. I’m It takes discipline. It takes heart.

And Emi showed the entire country exactly what she’s made of.

She returned home with a Gold Medal and a Bronze Medal, but to us, the medals are only part of the story.

The real victory is watching someone believe in themselves, work toward a goal, refuse to give up, and accomplish something extraordinary.

Emi, thank you for reminding all of us what dedication looks like.

They imagine life gets smaller.

One of our newest residents has spent the last few weeks attending activities throughout the community, making friends, participating in art and gymnastics, using transportation services, building routines, and creating a life that reflects her interests and goals.

Because our mission has never been to simply provide housing.

Our mission is to help people build a life they love.

A life filled with purpose.
A life filled with choice.
A life filled with opportunity.

That’s what Quality of Life For All means to us.

One of the things I’ve learned over the years is that great care happens when everyone communicates.

Families know things providers don’t know. Providers see things families don’t see. Teachers, employers, therapists, and support staff all have pieces of the puzzle.

When those pieces come together, the person we’re supporting wins.

That’s why we created this Quality Care Communication Journal as a gift to our community.

Whether your loved one receives services through a residential program, attends school, works in the community, participates in activities, or simply has a team of people supporting them, this journal can help keep everyone connected and informed.

Use it to share updates, celebrate successes, communicate concerns, track routines, ask questions, and document important information that shouldn’t get lost in the shuffle of everyday life.

Print as many copies as you’d like and use them in whatever way best supports your loved one.

Because better communication leads to better support, stronger partnerships, and ultimately a better quality of life.

🎬✨ Movie magic at Tikahtnu IMAX!

This past weekend, residents and staff from our Hastings and Little Brook homes packed into the theater for the premiere of Star Wars: The Mandalorian Movie — popcorn in hand, smiles all around, and a whole lot of excitement in the air.

At APAL, days like this are exactly what "Quality of Life for All" looks like in action.

It's not just about care — it's about experiences.
It's about being out in the community, doing the things everyone else gets to do, surrounded by people who feel like family.

A huge thank you to our incredible team for making outings like this possible — and to our residents, who reminded us once again that joy is the whole point.
