Alaska Trails Alaska Trails is a nonprofit working to expand and enhance Alaska's trail networks. Communities that get outside and use trails are healthier and happier.

We aim to be the statewide leader in trail advocacy, stewardship, and education. Alaska Trails is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization incorporated in 2003. Alaska Trails’ mission is to enhance the Alaska trail experience by supporting sustainable, world-renowned trails through advocacy, education and technical assistance. Alaska Trails has been a leader in demonstrating the health and economic benefits of trails. Making the health and economic benefits of trails an integral part of the work Alaska Trails does provides a valuable link to other partners in communities across Alaska. Alaska Trails - through its projects, partnerships and record of achievement - is committed to building and maintaining world-class trails in Alaska and for Alaska.

The Alaska Trail Stewards volunteer program was a great success this season, and we'd like to take a moment to thank Anchorage Park Foundation for their support through a Community Challenge grant this year!

Funding from this grant supported nine volunteer events in the Anchorage area this summer, which helped improved the Moose Ridge Loop, Powerline, Muktuk Marston, Little O'Malley, Panorama View, and Flattop Sunnyside trails.

Thank you, Anchorage Park Foundation, for being an advocate for improved parks and trails in Anchorage, and for supporting the Alaska Trail Stewards program!

Our Fall Fundraiser is tomorrow, October 8th, from 6-8:30 pm at Hilltop Ski Area! We hope to see you there for an evening of live music, food, drinks, great conversation, and camaraderie with fellow trail lovers.

Silent auction item highlight: Ermine Skate Nordic Skates!

Use an Alaska Trails-improved trail (perhaps the Rabbit Lake Trail in Chugach State Park!) to access some wild ice with your new pair of Nordic skates. The winner can bring their skates to Ermine's new location in Midtown Anchorage (behind Double Shovel Cidery on W 58th Ave) to purchase a pair of bindings at pro pricing and have them mounted.

Anchorage-based Ermine launched North America's homegrown Nordic skate industry in 2021. Today they manufacture several models of Nordic skates designed for Alaska's wild ice, whether that means remote long-distance backcountry trips or laps at Westchester.
