Priceless Alaska - Addressing Sex Trafficking

Priceless Alaska - Addressing Sex Trafficking Priceless is an anti s*x trafficking organization that walks with victims to find new life while meeting practical needs.

Commercial s*xual exploitation is “a practice by which a person achieves s*xual gratification, financial gain, or advancement through the abuse or exploitation of a person’s s*xuality by abrogating that person’s human right to dignity, equality, autonomy, and physical and mental well-being.”

Victims of s*x trafficking are forced to work in the commercial s*x trade against their will. Physical an

d emotional violence is an intrinsic part of this industry, which preys on individuals in conditions of physical, economic, and psychological vulnerability. To keep them working, victims are threatened, lied to, and beaten by traffickers and pimps, who control their money. This practice exists within all sectors of the s*x industry, including street prostitution, strip clubs, residential brothels, and massage parlors. Our mission is to develop and deploy leaders who in the context of missional communities work together through prayer, meeting practical needs, and networking with other agencies toward abolishing human trafficking and s*xual slavery.

Today, May 5, we remember and honor Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples.

But this is more than awareness, it’s a call to listen. To truly hear the voices of victims, survivors, and families, and to let their stories shape how we respond.

This crisis exists because of broken systems, gaps in care, and systemic injustice. Changing that takes all of us. Advocating for better systems and ensuring the resources are there to support victims and their families both in the moment of crisis and for the long road of healing.

This is not someone else’s issue. It’s ours.

Because every person is loved.
Every person matters.
And every person is worth fighting for.

We received two important executive proclamations from that reflect work close to our hearts.

April is S*xual Assault Awareness Month, and this week is Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

Both matter because they remind us that survivors deserve to be seen, believed, and supported. These moments help break the silence and call all of us to respond with compassion and care.

At Priceless, this is the work every day, standing with victims and reminding them they are not alone.

Here’s what the last 5 days have looked like for our team at Love Alaska & Priceless. We coordinated victim services for 11 individuals contacted through a multi-agency anti-trafficking operation. In the middle of that, we also spoke at the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses Alaska Conference about the critical role healthcare workers play in identifying trafficking, and partnered with Alaska Airlines at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport to train staff on how to spot trafficking in transportation hubs. We also helped a victim escape a dangerous situation, removing her from a local hotel, providing immediate resources, and getting her into safe housing. All in just 5 days. 12 victims contacted and supported. Almost 100 people trained across two critical industries.

This work is heavy and complex, and so much of it happens behind the scenes in ways we can’t always share. But it matters more than most people realize. The honest reality is that we’re a small team, and resources are running low. If you’ve ever wondered whether your support actually makes a difference, this is what it looks like… in real time, in real lives. Would you consider making a donation to help us keep showing up for moments like these? We truly can’t do this without you.

As many of you have heard, a multi-agency human trafficking investigation took place this past week of seven illicit massage parlors—three in Wasilla and four in Anchorage. 11 victims were identified. This work brought together the Anchorage Police Department, Alaska State Troopers, the FBI, and several other dedicated partners.

This operation has been more than a year in the making, and Priceless was invited in from the earliest stages of planning. It has been an honor to serve as the lead advocacy team for the victims contacted at both the Wasilla and Anchorage locations. We are deeply grateful for the trust and collaboration we share with our law enforcement partners. Together, we worked intentionally to ensure that each person was not only safe in the moment, but cared for in the hours and days that followed.

We are thankful for two local churches who gave us the use of their facility to create safe, welcoming spaces where individuals could go after leaving the sites. There, they were able to connect with Forensic Nursing Services of Providence, the Victim Crimes Compensation Board, Priceless and DPS navigators, and other important services for survivors of this situation. It was important to everyone involved that those impacted felt cared for in what could be a frightening and traumatic experience.

We prepared these spaces with intention—hygiene items, fresh clothing, culturally familiar foods, small comforts like nail polish and coloring pages, as well as practical resources like phones and blankets. Our advocates showed up ready to bring light into a very heavy moment, offering presence, dignity, and compassion.

We believe deeply in freedom for those who have been exploited, and in the strength of a community that comes together to make that possible.

To our law enforcement partners—thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your shared heart in this work. To our shelter partner — thank you for ensuring we were able to get all victims into a safe housing location quickly. To our advocacy partners—thank you for reminding each victim of their worth and inherent value.

We’re so grateful for an incredible night at the 3rd Annual Spaghetti Feed & Auction at the Badger Den in North Pole that happened this past weekend!

This event is always such a fun time, and it wouldn’t be possible without the Sons of Thunder Motorcycle Club, who go above and beyond to make this night so special. We’re also so thankful for the many Interior Alaska businesses and individuals who showed up, donated, and gave so generously. Thank you to the Badger Den for hosting this event once again. Your support means the world to us.

Because of you, real funds were raised to support the work we do and to walk alongside survivors with care, dignity, and hope.

Thank you for believing in this work.

Sometimes fighting trafficking looks like eating spaghetti, bidding on knives, and rallying a community to care for our most vulnerable.

Because of you, we were able to say “yes.”

This week, one of our clients needed help with safe housing for the month, and because of your generosity and partnership, we were able to step in and make that happen. We were also able to provide formula for her baby, meeting a need that mattered just as much.

Safe housing isn’t just a place to stay. It’s stability. It’s dignity. It’s a chance to breathe, to rest, and to continue taking the next steps toward healing and freedom.

To our donors and supporters: thank you. You are the reason we can respond in moments like this. You are helping create real change in the lives of people who need it most.

We couldn’t do this without you.
