AKUN

Our Mission is to improve the lives of those worldwide in desperate situations and personal crisis. We have projects based in Cambodia, Namibia, and Guatemala.

AKUN is a public charity registered in Alaska and is exempt from income tax under IRS section 501(c)(3) as of January 14, 2015. We take on small scale projects with the philosophy that a small helping hand can lead to positive life changes. Project 1: The Sunday Children's Program is held once a week in 3 locations in extremely poor villages. Every Sunday, the children are served one very nutritio

us meal of 'bobo', a rice porridge packed with eggs, chicken meat and veggies. It might not seem much but that one meal a week has proved to improve the health of these children. It is also a nice way to gather them together and check on their health and family issues. Project 2: Providing scholarships for students living in poverty to give them the chance at earning a trade certificate or diploma leading to employment. For many families, this breaks the poverty cycle. We have students in Cambodia, Guatemala, and Ethiopia. Project 3: We help the primary schools in an impoverished, rural area of Namibia with school books, gardening equipment, and lunch programs which feeds children and keeps them in school.

💻 Thanks to the generous donation of a laptop from CGI, earlier this year, Somaly is finding it much easier to complete her university coursework.
Combined with the generous support of her 2 Direct Sponsors, who provided her scholarship this year, she was able to focus on what matters most—working hard towards her dream of becoming a Civil Engineer.

At AKUN, supporting the health, education, and well-being of children and young people is at the heart of everything we do. Through our three core programs (scholarships, Sunday Children's Program, Mbambzi School Lunches), we're helping create opportunities for youth to thrive.
This year, our FAB Program has also sponsored three students in Cambodia, enabling them to continue their English studies, and supported a young boy in Namibia with school lunches and clothing. In addition, we provided funding for math resources for the Peace Corps volunteer at Mbambazi School, helping bring a more hands-on approach to learning mathematics for both students and staff.

🏗️ This year, Sokvisal has taken part in field trips to learn more about the work of a Civil Engineer, giving him valuable real-world experience alongside his university studies.
