Today, January 24, is recognized as The International Day of Education, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly. This day celebrates the role of education in achieving global peace and sustainable development, emphasizing its importance in building resilience in societies. We, UMH, join in support for the vital role education plays in the world and to the Guatemalan communities we serve.

Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.

Congratulations to our 2026 UMH Scholarship recipients Yeimy Nancy Paola Ujpán Cholotío and Jose Salvador Pur Peneleu! Yeimy has entered into the nursing program and Jose will pursue engineering. We are excited to be a part of their new educational journey and look forward to our newfound partnership and friendship.
