🔥 Residential Fire – Vista Lane

At 2155 last night, AFD firefighters were dispatched for a fire investigation on 33rd Street. The investigation was quickly upgraded to a residential fire, prompting the remaining crews to respond.

Ladder Truck 2915 and Medic 14 were first on scene. M14 made an initial entry and quickly extinguished the fire, helping keep the majority of the damage confined.

🚨 MVA | D Ave & 30th St 🚒

Yesterday, Anacortes Fire Fighters responded to a serious motor vehicle accident at the top of D Avenue and 30th Street.

Crews arrived to find an SUV that had struck a utility pole at a high rate of speed. Firefighters quickly went to work securing the vehicle and safely extricating the driver.

Once extricated, the patient was transferred to Medic 12 and transported to Island Health, where crews rendezvoused with a Life Flight Network helicopter for air transport to Seattle for definitive care.

A big thank you to Puget Sound Energy for their quick response in securing the damaged utility infrastructure and working to restore power to the area. It appears power has been fully restored as of this morning.

🚒 Strong teamwork from everyone involved helped get this patient the care they needed quickly and safely.

This past Thursday, we had the honor of celebrating the retirement of two of our own after more than 50 years of combined service to our department.

Lieutenant Travis Bryan and Firefighter/Paramedic Steve Monrad—thank you for your unwavering dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving our community. Your impact on this department and the firefighters who served alongside you will be felt for years to come.

Local 1537 would also like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this celebration so special.

Congratulations, Travis and Steve. We wish you both a long, healthy, and well-deserved retirement. 🚒🇺🇸

🚒 Retirement Celebration for Two of Our Own 🚒

After decades of dedicated service to the citizens of Anacortes and the fire service profession, it’s time to celebrate the careers of Steve Monrad and Travis Bryan.

Please join us as we honor their commitment, sacrifice, leadership, and the countless lives they’ve impacted throughout their careers. While retirement marks the end of a chapter, they will always remain a part of our fire family.

🚨⛷️ Your Anacortes Fire Fighters took on the annual Ski-to-Sea race today and finished 32nd out of 123 teams in the Recreational Open Division!

Perfect weather, strong competition, and an even better time representing our community alongside some incredible teams. Proud of everyone who competed and supported along the way.

We’ll see you all on the course again next year! 💪🔥

You might notice a few new faces around town 👀

Please join us in welcoming FF/EMT Paggao, FF/EMT Ferrell, and FF/PM Foster to the department! These guys come to us as laterals from other departments and are currently working through a 5-week lateral Fire Academy before jumping into their assigned shifts.

We’re fired up to have them on the team—if you see them out and about, don’t hesitate to say hi 🤝

Quarter 1 was a busy start to the year for your firefighters at the Anacortes Fire Department.

From January through March, crews responded to:

• 🔥 8 Fires
• ⚠️ 29 Hazardous Situations
• 🚑 1,070 Medical Calls
• 🧯 35 Non-Emergency Responses
• 🤝 64 Public Service Calls
• 🚒 4 Rescue Calls

📈 On average, AFD responded to 14 calls per day this quarter.

Every call represents a moment where someone in our community needed help — and our firefighters showed up.
