Choose your side. Recruit your people. Prepare for nonsense.

From 12–3 PM Sunday, join the Downtown Anacortes Scavenger Hunt at Open Streets and pick your team — 🦅 Seagull, 🐋 Orca, or 🦌 Deer.

Then get moving. You might find yourself dancing in the street, hunting down Bill Mitchell murals, playing a painted piano, inventing wildly inaccurate local history, showing off your downtown haul, or acting like feral shipyard cats on camera.

This is much more fun with friends, so assemble a crew, chase points, sabotage your own dignity, and see if your team can climb the leaderboard.

Sign up ahead of time so you’re ready to play at noon: https://join.goosechase.com/f09b310d-1b14-431c-b6e0-36f867d675e2

If you need help getting into the game, stop by the Downtown Anacortes Alliance booth starting at 11 AM and we’ll get you set up.

A STORY OF DOWNTOWN’S FISHING HERITAGE

The fishing fleet has called downtown Anacortes home for generations, and this outdoor movie celebrates that remarkable legacy.

Enjoy live music, then settle in under the stars for a film that honors one of the traditions that helped shape our downtown and our community.

A QUARTER-MILLENNIUM TO CELEBRATE

What a way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday! 🇺🇸

Downtown was packed with neighbors, visitors, music, flags, and plenty of smiles as the Fourth of July Parade rolled through Commercial Avenue. We loved seeing so many familiar faces—including our own DAA crew, with Sparky and friends joining the fun!

We’re also especially proud that two downtown business owners helped judge this year’s parade. Congratulations to Elle Baumann, recipient of our Holiday Cheer Award, and Katie DeBord, whose business was voted the community favorite in this year’s Tulip Window Walk. They joined AHS Band Director Barry Janicula and DAA volunteer and AHS Drum Major Ursula Edelman at the judges table. Their creativity, energy, and love for downtown shine all year long, and we’re grateful they helped celebrate this special milestone with our community.

Happy Independence Day, Anacortes. Here’s to 250 years—and to a downtown that continues to bring people together.

1776 REASONS TO COME DOWNTOWN... Here’s a fun way to kick off Independence Day weekend.

The Anacortes Brewery is releasing its new 1776 Double IPA on Thursday, July 2—a bold, hop-forward brew created to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

Make an evening of it: Essential Element ukulele bandwill be playing patriotic and folk favorites at Rockfish from 5:00–6:00 PM, making downtown a great place to raise a glass, sing along, and enjoy summer with friends.

See you downtown.

A WHALE-SIZED THANK YOU... What a day! 🐋

Thank you to our amazing downtown businesses for dreaming up great deals and fun experiences, our incredible volunteers—especially our Whales and Promotions Committee—for months of planning, the sunshine for showing up, and everyone who came downtown to shop, explore, and celebrate with us.

One of our favorite parts of the day was running into so many neighbors and hearing people say they discovered a new favorite downtown business for the very first time. That’s what Whale of a Sale is all about.

Thank you for making our fourth Whale of a Sale one to remember. 💙

A FRESH COAT OF CARE… If you’ve been downtown this week, you may have noticed some bright new crosswalks taking shape.

A big thank you to the City of Anacortes Public Works crew for repainting our downtown crosswalks and helping Commercial Avenue look fresh and welcoming for the busy summer season. It’s one of those behind-the-scenes jobs that makes a big difference, and we appreciate the care they put into keeping downtown looking its best.

Thanks for all you do!
