Don’t we all feel like we knew her? 🦋🫶🏼
When Storybridge launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Amarillo in 2021, the most common question we received by far was: “When is Dolly going to come out here??” 💖
Can you imagine? If we had been able to get ✨Dolly Parton✨ to come to Amarillo, TX?! I-40 couldn’t have handled the tri-state traffic!
But in a very tangible way, she made it out here. ❤️
We took Dolly to BSA, NWTHS, and TTU Pediatrics, to Head Start and Opportunity School, to parks all over town, to Hart, Claude, Borger, and Perryton, even Hodgetown… And Dolly’s dream—that every child should have books of their own—made it to the homes of 10,000 of our children.
Make no mistake, our kids know Dolly. 💖📚
This evening, the President of the Dollywood Foundation had this to say in an email to all Imagination Library programs around the country: “Dolly’s legacy will certainly live on through the songs she wrote, the characters she created and the joy she brought to millions of people. But I believe some of her most important legacy will live quietly in homes around the world — in the moments when a parent reads to a child, when a little hand turns a page, when a favorite story is requested one more time before bed, or when a child begins to believe that there is a bigger world waiting for them.”
How do we honor our beloved hero of early literacy? We keep her dream going. 📚🌈
