Mr. Nuckols Weekly Update #5
Good afternoon parents and students,
We hope you will be able to attend the Tri-State Fair Parade tomorrow, or watch it on TV to see the Rebel Regiment representing our school! In this update you will find information about the next couple of weeks, including the Tri-State Fair parade, our Homecoming activities, our current fundraiser, March-A-Palooza, the High Plains Marching Festival, our Spring Trip to Dallas, and several other items from previous updates. Also, please be checking with your students about their grades in all of their classes so that they can maintain their eligibility - the grading period ends next Friday and that will determine eligibility for our contest season!
If you need to communicate with the booster club, please contact Mr. Doug Martin at [email protected] If you have questions regarding fees, meals, or other information please look at the bottom of this update for information that is repeated from previous weeks.
Tri-State Fair Parade
Our first parade performance of the Tri-State Fair Parade. The Tri-State Fair Parade will take place September 19th at 10:00am downtown. Students will need to arrive at the band hall no later than 8:45 that morning to get changed into uniform so we can head downtown for our parade lineup. Attendance and participation in the parade is a requirement of our class and a graded performance. It is also a requirement for students to earn their varsity letter at the end of the year. We are entry number 94 in the parade so I anticipate that we will be done by approximately 11:00 and back to Tascosa at 11:15. There will be a limited availability of tickets for students to attend the fair that afternoon after our parade performance.
Homecoming Parade
We will be participating in the Homecoming parade, next Monday at Austin Park. Students need to arrive at Austin Park no later than 5:50pm in their “Reflected,” show shirt and tennis shoes ready to march in the parade. The parade begins at 6:30 and should be over no later than 7:00pm.
Homecoming Game
Next week will be our Homecoming game. We will follow our same pregame routine with our Pregame meal at 4:05 and rehearsal at 4:45. Since it is our Homecoming Game, students will be allowed to wear mums and garters during the game provided they are not pinned to their uniform. They need to be designed so they can be worn and taken off easily. Due to the physical nature of our marching show, we require students to remove mums and garters prior to halftime so they are not damaged. We will have parents that stay in the stands to watch our students’ belongings while we are on the field so that they are not disturbed. If you have questions regarding mums or garters please feel free to reach out to one of the directors.
Domino’s Pizza Card Fundraiser
We began our latest fundraiser on Monday. We are selling Domino’s pizza cards. These cards will sell for $20 each. Students will earn $10 profit for each card. The card will be valid for approximately a year and you can get a free large pizza for each large pizza you order. If you order two larges, you get two larges for free. The card can be reused until it expires. This was a great fundraiser for us last year and many of our students were able to sell a large quantity of cards. Order forms are available in the band hall and we will be selling cards until Monday, September 28th.
Grades
The six weeks grading period will end on September 25, 2026. Please make sure that your students are getting their work turned in and staying on top of their grades.
March-A-Palooza
On Tuesday morning, September 29, we will participate in the AISD March-A-Palooza performance for the fifth graders around the district. Students will report to THS at their normal 7:30am time and we will bus to the stadium for the morning. We will perform for the fifth graders, and have time for a small rehearsal at the stadium that morning. We will provide students lunch before coming back to campus.
High Plains Marching Festival
Our first marching contest of the year, the High Plains Marching Festival, will take place on October 3rd at Dick Bivins Stadium. Our preliminary performance time will be at 4:30 pm. We will ask students to meet us that day at the band hall at 12:30 for lunch and then we will warm up and rehearse at 1:00. We will depart for the stadium at 1:45. Awards after the preliminary competition will be presented at 5:00 pm. If we qualify for a finals spot, we will stick around at the stadium and perform again. Information regarding a finals performance will be given out after preliminary results.
Dallas Spring Trip
We will be taking a spring trip to Dallas this school year. The dates for the trip will be March 12-14, 2027. Cost for the trip will be $500 for students. We will attend the George W. Bush Presidential Museum and Library, Medieval Times, Six Flags, and a Dallas Symphony Concert. The itinerary for the trip and contract is available in Mr. Nuckols’ office. Sign up deadline is October 15, 2026 along with a $200 deposit. There are only 98 spots available for the trip and you will not be considered signed up until your deposit is received. There will be two further payments of $150 each due on December 15, 2026 and February 1, 2027. There are also spots for 2 male and 5 female chaperones.

Information below this section is a repeat of information from last week’s update
AISD Form Collection/Rank One - some new information
Many of you have already worked on completing your forms in Rank One and we are very appreciative. There are a couple of things that have been brought to our attention. One of the forms you are asked to fill out does not have a “marching band,” option, so please just choose another option. And, some of you have filled out all forms but Rank One is still saying your student is not eligible. We are working with the trainers to get this cleared up. As this is a new system for us to use, we appreciate your patience.
This paragraph is a repeat of the information sent last week. We were made aware this week of a change in policy for collecting forms mandated by AISD and UIL. We need parents of all students to create a Rank One Account at this link: https://amarilloisd.rankone.com/Pro/Login.aspx and fill out all forms online for your student. You have already turned in your physicals and we have uploaded the physicals that we have into the system, but we need the other information filled out. As I said, this is a new requirement and we are hopeful that you can take care of these forms quickly. If you already have your student registered as an athlete you can use the same account to fill out their marching band forms.
Band Fees
This year our band fees are $125. If students ordered new uniform shoes, those are $36 (new shoes are a requirement for Freshmen and new students). Pre-game meals for our home games will come to a total of $45.00. All students need to fill out the pre-game meal form, because there are some choices for options that will be provided free of charge. Fees can be paid all at once or paid throughout the year. If you have concerns regarding the financial commitment of participating in our band program please reach out to me and we can either work out a payment plan or facilitate a scholarship for your student through our booster club if necessary. Finances will never prohibit a student from participating fully in our band program. You can access an online payment platform to take care of band fees, shoes, and meals through credit card at the following link: https://tascosa-high-school-band-and-orchestra.square.site/shop/band-fees/4
If your student plays a school owned instrument their rental fee for the year will be assigned in school cash next week and can be paid online. Ms. Worley has a rental agreement that needs to be filled out as well for your student to use a school owned instrument.
Tascosa Band and Orchestra Parents
The Tascosa Band and Orchestra Parents (commonly referred to as TBOP) is our booster club for the band and orchestra. Our band president this year is Mr. Doug Martin. If you need to get in touch with him regarding anything about the booster club he can be reached at [email protected]
Our booster club is always looking for volunteers so, if you are interested in helping out, please email Mr. Martin, our booster club president at [email protected] and he will get in touch with you.
Volunteering for School Events
It takes many volunteers to help us get through the school year and we would love for you to volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering you can find out about different opportunities at our TBOP meeting or by emailing myself or Mr. Martin. Anyone interested in volunteering needs to fill out a background check form on the AISD website: https://bit.ly/Volunteer-AISD
Pre-Game Meals
Pre-game meals will be provided for students who sign up for all home games. The cost of meals for the year is $45. If there are financial issues regarding payment for pregame meals please contact one of the directors so we can assist in finding a solution to feed your student. It is important that all of our students have eaten prior to games, and we make it our goal to take care of all of the students in our charge. All students need to fill out the pre-game meal form even if you are not planning on purchasing the pre-game meals. We will have several meals provided free of charge for the students that are on that form.
Tascosa Band Family Calendar
The directors work to maintain a Google Calendar of all band events that you can subscribe to on your calendar app or Google Calendar for your phone. Updates will automatically push to your device if you are subscribed. You can subscribe to this calendar by following this link.
