A quiet moment at The PLACE 🤍

While we wait for the younger kids to arrive after school, the older students take advantage of the calm — catching up on homework, filling out applications, studying, and building their futures.

The PLACE offers a safe, welcoming space where our friends can focus, be productive, and move one step closer to their goals.

Sometimes impact looks loud and full of energy.
Sometimes it looks like this — quiet determination.

We’re grateful to provide both.

As Ramadan begins (February 17 – March 19), we’re grateful for this helpful information shared by Catholic Charities of the Texas Panhandle.

Understanding what Ramadan involves helps us better support our neighbors, students, and friends with awareness and respect.

Thank you to Catholic Charities Education Services for equipping our community with practical, compassionate guidance.

These four men are our friends. They’ve shown up at The PLACE, worked hard, helped others, studied English, applied for jobs, and done everything they can to build a stable life here in Amarillo.

But the job search has been difficult.

So now, they’re expanding their search — submitting applications across the country. Most recently… Wisconsin.

It’s never easy to watch friends move away. Over the years, we’ve seen many come and go in search of opportunity. And while it stretches our hearts, this is what resilience looks like.

This is what determination looks like.

This is what chasing the American dream looks like.

They are not giving up. They are willing to move, to start over again, to work wherever there is opportunity — all so they can provide for their families and continue the long journey toward reunification one day.

We are proud of them.
We are praying for open doors.
And we will always be their community — no matter what state they land in.

Hard work. Courage. Hope.

That’s what we see here.
