Intrusion vs. Inclusion. Two words that sound so similar, but create entirely different worlds.

Tonight, we got to see the difference in real time. Just as a wonderful summer picnic for Heroes was wrapping up at the Beach House Park, the Presque Isle Harbor Association evening music session was just getting started.

There’s always a fragile moment in transitions like this. The picnic group could have easily been made to feel like they had overstayed their welcome, or that they were intruding on the next group's event. They could have quietly packed up and left.
Instead, something beautiful happened: Inclusion.

The neighbors gathering for the music didn't just wait for us to clear out; they warmly welcomed us to stay and participate. Space was made, voices sang along together. It wasn't two separate groups crossing paths—it became a community sharing a perfect summer evening.

It’s a gentle reminder for all of us: When given the choice to politely wait for someone to leave or to pull up an extra chair and invite them to stay... always pull up the chair.

Everyone is always welcome! We found new friends at this event just by walking on the beach!!!!

Come join us for a fun afternoon on Grand Lake! Come swim, bring any water toys you would like, or just join friends for some games. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided. Please let us know if you are able to come so we have a better count for hot dogs.

Thank you to Dinosaur Garden for hosting our wonderful evening! And thanks to CFNEM for the grant to make this happen! Last Thursday was a huge success for our HEROES group, we had 42 peeps attending, enjoying their experience and making new friendships ♥️♥️♥️ It was truly a magical evening!
