Join us for the Savvy Caregiver Mixer—an innovative social extension of the nationally recognized Savvy Caregiver Program, created to support those caring for loved ones living with dementia.

This is a space for you. A chance to connect with others who understand, build practical skills, and take a moment to recharge in a welcoming, supportive environment.

Respite care will be provided by Nest in Place, so you can attend knowing your loved one is in good hands.

Melba Tolliver visited Lehigh Valley Active Life on March 30 for a powerful, interactive conversation sponsored by United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley. Nearly 40 community members attended — almost a full house! 📚

Melba spoke about the themes of her memoir — chance, choice, change, and connection — and encouraged everyone to write down their stories and wisdom for future generations. Attendees read passages aloud, shared reflections, and participated in a meaningful discussion about voice, power, and legacy. ✨

Her books nearly sold out at the event, and she shared that she is currently working on her next book and speaking at conferences and colleges.

Through the support of the Fleming Foundation, ’s Age-Friendly Lehigh Valley initiative continues to expand programs that help older adults, caregivers and families across our region.

Together, we are building a more dementia-friendly community by strengthening education, awareness and caregiver support. These efforts are helping create a region where caregivers feel supported, communities are better informed and older adults can age with dignity.

Today we celebrate the unveiling of Bethlehem Area Public Library Coolidge’s brand-new community mural, created by library patrons ages 55+ alongside Lehigh Valley muralist Kyle Edwards. This project reflects BAPL’s commitment to building an age-friendly community by creating opportunities for connection, creativity, and lifelong engagement.
