The Alexandria Radio Club has donated a set of eleven books about amateur radio to the Alexandria Public Library. The books, published by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), include study guides for the three amateur license classes, and introductions to basic electronics, antennas, station set-up, and other topics essential to ham radio. They will be shelved at the Beatley Central Library, 5005 Duke Street, Alexandria. Pictured from left: Allison Carmola, Adult Services Manager, Beatley; and club members Sean Gallagher-K4KBK (Past President), Aaron Kahn-K6HLC (President), and Jan Maas-KB2LRX (Public Information Officer).

The Alexandria Radio Club participated in the Feb. 14, honoring of George Washington’s Birthday and March 7 honoring St. Patrick’s Day. As parade units formed up before step-off, the club members provided time-sensitive information to the organizers of both parades. Another successful ARC community support activity!

Do you want to know how to stay in contact with loved ones during natural or man made disasters? Alexandria City Amateur Radio Emergency Service will have an EmComm display at ARC’s field day event this weekend June 28-29 at Chinquapin Park. Some highlights of demos and displays we plan to have include an antenna building station, low power and low cost long range radios, commercial satellite messengers and LEO internet solutions, and an antenna dog and pony show highlighting some of the best options for emergency communications in less than ideal environments! Come out and see us!
