On 8/25 in Wisconsin near the line 5 reroute construction site, an empty semi truck backed into the pipeline and ruptured it. Releasing a yet unquantified amount of natural gas liquids, and leading to nearby homes being evacuated for safety.
Enbridge, the oil company that owns the 70 year old pipeline, was slow to report the incident and now the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is calling on Enbridge to shut down Line 5 while the leak is addressed.

Line 5 should be shut down, but not just for repairs.
Line 5 should be shut down, permanently.

But ran away from a town hall when faced with those neighbors.

The hyperscale data center buildout represents a massive shift towards a dystopian future. Taking jobs, straining water and electricity resources, as well as causing harmful health consequences to community members with noise pollution. Every day people have been organizing to defend their communities from these harmful projects, resulting in a growing trend of bans and moratoriums being implemented across the country. Join the movement to stop data center construction.

SF Bay Area, join us this Wednesday! We're bringing together climate advocates for an intimate community mixer. We'll dive into some of the most pressing issues facing Californians across the state as we cope with the climate crisis and work to elect climate champions to office at all levels.
California Insurance Commissioner candidate Jane Kim, alongside other progressive leaders including BART Board Director Edward Wright, Saikat Chakrabarti, and Elise Joshi will be joining. Funds raised will support Climate Defiance's work to end the era of fossil fuels.

Los Angeles faces a massive climate emergency, and we need leadership that actually matches the scale of the crisis. Nithya Raman stands out with by far the most aggressive and comprehensive environmental platform in this race.
