🌿 Celebrating 5 Years of Wild Ones Capital Region! 🌿

Today, the Wild Ones Capital Region board and leadership team gathered for a lovely lunch at Barcelona restaurant to celebrate something pretty special: our upcoming 5-year anniversary as an official Wild Ones chapter! 🎉🌱

Since becoming an official charter on September 27, 2021, our chapter has grown into a vibrant, active community—and that’s thanks to the incredible people who continue to give their time, energy, ideas, and enthusiasm to make it happen. 💚

A huge THANK YOU to our board and leadership members for everything you do to nurture our chapter and help native plants thrive throughout the Capital Region. 🌼🦋

After lunch, we rolled up our sleeves for some strategic planning, including one of our biggest goals for the coming year: building our volunteer leadership team. We’re looking for members who want to get more involved and help lead teams for signature events like our Annual Native Plant Sale and Fall Native Plant Celebration and Seed Swap. 🌱

Want to be part of the fun? There’s plenty of room at the table—and we’d love to have you! 💚

Here’s to five years of growing, planting, learning, and building community together. And to many more! 🌿✨

Next Saturday, August 15th! Join Wild Ones Capital Region for a special garden tour featuring two beautiful residential gardens in Guilderland and Schenectady. This is one of the two gardens you’ll have the opportunity to explore!

🌿 GARDEN TOUR: Welcome to the PQ Estate! 🌳

📅 Saturday, August 15, 2026
🕙 10AM–2PM
📍 Guilderland, NY
🌱 Members Only + 1 Guest

Christine P. acquired this four acre property in Guilderland several years ago, and with no close neighbors, the property has a rural feel to it. 🌳🌼

With a love of flowers, animals, and the environment, Christine has embraced the opportunity to actively shape and steward her land. The property is divided into several distinct areas, each with its own personality: The Island, The Mole Meadow, The Big Oaks, The Garden, The Orchard, and The Peony Field. 🌸🍎🌿

Her gardening goals are to remove invasive plants, reduce lawn, and plant more native plants and cut flowers. 🌱✂️💐

And the best part? Christine welcomes fellow gardeners to come explore, share ideas, and swap tips as the gardens continue to evolve.

Come wander, get inspired, and see what happens when a gardener gives four acres—and a whole lot of imagination—a chance to grow. 🌿🌸🐝

🌿 Take a walk through two inspiring native landscapes! 🌿

Join us for Part 2 of our Garden Trilogy Tour as we return to Genoveffa V’s expansive garden to see how it has transformed from spring into the heart of summer. A longtime Capital Region Wild Ones member and our current Vice President, Gen’s property is filled with native trees, shrubs, perennials, and vegetables that are thriving this season.

✨ Plus, explore a brand-new native garden!

We’ll also visit Kim’s property in Ravena, where she’s creating native cottage gardens on 7 acres of newly acquired land. See what a first-year native planting looks like, hear about the successes (and challenges!) of tackling invasive species, and share ideas for future garden projects.

After the planting party, stick around for refreshments, our June Membership Social with the congregation, and a brief meeting. It’s a great opportunity to connect with fellow native plant enthusiasts and celebrate what we’re growing together! 🌱💚
