Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging Our mission is to help older individuals' access information, assistance and resources that will empower them to self advocate and live independently.

Our History

Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging (M4A) was designated as an Area Agency on Aging in 1989. As our name indicates, M4A serves all consumers between Blount, Chilton, Shelby, St. Clair, and Walker counties to serve older individuals. Since 1989, M4A and its mission have grown to serve caregivers and people with disabilities regardless of age.

💊💙 **M4A PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT: SENIORX!** ❤️💙

This month, we’re proud to highlight **SenioRx**, a valuable program that helps eligible Alabama residents access prescription medications for chronic illnesses and health conditions at little or no cost!

We understand that the cost of essential medications can be a burden. SenioRx is designed to help make these medications more accessible to those who need them.

🌟 **Who may qualify?**
- Alabama residents age **55 and older** with low incomes who do not have prescription drug coverage.
- Individuals of **any age with a disability** who meet the program’s eligibility requirements and do not have prescription drug coverage.
- Individuals with Medicare who need assistance obtaining a medication that is not covered by their plan’s formulary.

💙 **How does SenioRx help?**

The program provides assistance with accessing needed medications, along with comprehensive counseling, benefits screening, and application assistance through the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) process.

This October, M4A is honored to shine the spotlight on two extraordinary members of our community, **Mrs. Mary Pickett and Mrs. Willie B. Bolling!** 🎉✨

Although their birthdays were celebrated in September, we are continuing the celebration by recognizing these amazing ladies in our October Senior Spotlight! 🥳🎂 Mary celebrated her 90th birthday, while Willie B. celebrated her 92nd birthday!

Together, these remarkable women represent over **180 years of life, love, wisdom, and cherished memories.** Their stories are a beautiful reminder of the resilience, strength, and joy that make our seniors such a treasured part of our community. 💚💙

Lisa has been a valued member of the M4A family for 13 years, serving in our Medicaid Waiver program before stepping into her current role as HR Director.
