🩺 Stroke Awareness Month 🩺

At the May 19th City Council Meeting, Mayor Cody Sumners proclaimed May 2026 as Stroke Awareness Month in the City of Chelsea, recognizing the importance of stroke education, prevention, and support for survivors and their families.

We were honored to present this proclamation to Brandon Matthews, who accepted it on behalf of Sanchez Tannehill. Sanchez suffered a stroke at just six weeks old and continues to do well today. Through his organization, God Did It Ministries, he helps raise awareness about strokes, shares his story, and encourages others through advocacy and outreach.

Stroke awareness saves lives. Recognizing the warning signs and seeking immediate medical attention can make a significant difference in outcomes and recovery. Education and prevention remain important tools in reducing the impact of stroke on individuals and families.

We appreciate Brandon, Sanchez, and all those who work to raise awareness, support survivors, and educate our communities about stroke prevention and recovery.

What an awesome month it has been—God did it! ❤️

As Stroke Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Shelby County, Alabaster, Birmingham, and everyone across Alabama who showed love and support throughout this journey.

Thank you to everyone who wore red, shared awareness messages, attended events, prayed, encouraged survivors, and helped spread the importance of stroke awareness. Because of you, lives were touched, hope was shared, and awareness was raised.

Shelby County showed up. Alabaster showed up. Birmingham showed up. Our communities came together for a cause bigger than ourselves, and we are truly grateful.

Thank you for standing with stroke survivors, caregivers, and families. Your support, prayers, and encouragement have meant the world to us.

The month may be ending, but the mission continues. Together, we will keep educating, inspiring, and supporting those affected by stroke.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Alabama. Thank you, Birmingham. Thank you, Shelby County. Thank you, Alabaster.

And above all, thank God because God did it! ❤️🙏

Here at God Did It Ministries, we are at a loss for words. One of our dedicated volunteers has gone home to be with the Lord. Their service, love, and commitment to others will never be forgotten.

We ask for your continued prayers for the family and for everyone impacted by this loss during this difficult time. May God grant them strength, peace, and comfort in the days ahead.
