On Friday, we had the privilege of delivering a freezer of beef and pork to a wonderful ministry in Shelby County called Blanket Fort Hope. They rescue child victims of trafficking and truly give them hope for their future.

We were able to partner with Jones Farm in Autauga County for this delivery. This is just another example of cattle producers in Alabama seeing the fruits of their labor go to help some very deserving young people. Jones Farm, and all of our other producer partners fulfill our slogan every day on the farm, “Cattlemen Producing Hope”.

On Saturday, we had the privilege of traveling to Florence, AL to help deliver a side of beef to a wonderful ministry that supports women and children. This delivery would not have been possible without the fine folks at Walking C Farms.

We have partnered with them over the past four years, and they epitomize our slogan, “Cattlemen Producing Hope”. Walking C Farms has assisted us in providing quality beef to many families through the years. If you’re looking for quality beef in north Alabama, give my buddy Trevor a call.

I’m amazed daily at the generosity of our cattle producers all over the state of Alabama, and I’m thankful for partners who selflessly give so much to others.

We have plans to continue growing Thousand Hills Cattle and we’d appreciate your prayers for this organization.

Join us in welcoming Michael Smith to the team as our Manager of Industry Outreach.

A Shelby County native, Michael will coordinate statewide Beef Checkoff programming focused on promoting beef to Alabama's consumers and engaging with cattle producers from across the state. His responsibilities will include implementing the Young Cattlemen's Leadership Program (YCLP), coordinating beef promotion efforts, attending producer events such as sales and educational workshops, and co-hosting programs including Beef 101.

Welcome, Michael! 🤠

Big thanks to our friends at Thousand Hills Cattle for helping us bless a single grandmother raising 5 grandchildren in our community. We were able to deliver them a freezer full of beef. 🥩 🐄

At Generation Church, we believe in living on mission. That means going beyond the church walls to serve and love people right where they are. Living on mission is about showing up, sharing what we have, and being the hands and feet of Jesus every day.

We’re so proud to partner with friends who share that heart. Thank you for helping us make a difference and reminding us all what it looks like to live generously.

Spring has definitely sprung here at Thousand Hills Cattle in Alabama! Coming off a record setting year last year of families fed, we have hit the ground running in 2025. Thanks to an extremely generous donation from the Shelby County Farmer’s Federation, we were able to purchase 5 brand new freezers and we will have money left to order some fresh beef as well.

And speaking of fresh beef, we were able to fill those 5 freezers thanks to an anonymous cattle producer in south Alabama who has again this year donated two steers in order to provide quality beef to families in need. We were able to deliver one freezer full of beef directly from the processor to a wonderful family in Covington County, AL.

Also, we were able to travel to Lauderdale County, AL to Walking C Farms in order to pick up a half of beef that was delivered to a women’s ministry in Rogersville, AL. We have other deliveries scheduled for Shelby County and Blount County in the near future.

As we like to say, we are just the delivery people who have the privilege of connecting Alabama cattlemen with families in need, or as we like to say it, “Cattlemen Producing Hope.”

Check out our newest video, updating you on what we’ve been up to over the last 4 months. Thanks to Vision Farms for always partnering with us and hosting us today.

Also thank you to Cashio Cattle Company for the most recent very generous donation of over 2,500 lbs of high quality beef. Many families across Alabama will be blessed by your generosity.

Lastly, we’d like to recognize and thank the cattlemen across the state who donate to us and wish to remain anonymous. We wish we could tell the world of your generosity and compassion. The cattlemen from across the state of Alabama are some of the finest people we’ve ever had the privilege of meeting.

Earlier this month, Sweet Grown Alabama member Thousand Hills Cattle had the privilege of serving local farm-raised beef to the competitors at the Helena Miracle League baseball season finale! Helena Miracle League allows children and adults facing physical and mental disabilities an opportunity to participate in the great American pastime. What an outstanding way to support your community with a touch of local goodness.

"October Beef Month got its start in 1965 when the leaders of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, the National Cattlemen’s Association, and the Livestock and Meat Board in Chicago combined forces. At the time, Ed Whatley, who would go on to foster a nearly 50-year career with the Cattlemen’s Association, was working for A&P Grocers in the meat department. One day, two leaders from the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association stopped into his store and completely changed the course of his life forever.

“They came by and said, ‘We just purchased a van, and we painted it up. We have a PA system inside, and we’re going to put a cow on top of it. We want to put beef on the map in Alabama, and we need someone to drive it,’” Whatley remembers of the conversation. “Long story short, I went to work with them a few months later.”" - Jamie Walden with AL.com
