This is a great opportunity for Akron area residents to get some brief advice and guidance on issues like custody, divorce, evictions, debt and more. Due to the July 4 holiday, there will not be a clinic in July.

We are sad to share news of the passing of Attorney Sean Keenan, a member of our Board of Trustees from 2015 to 2024 and a retired partner at Day, Ketterer, Raley, Wright & Rybolt in Canton.

"We are grateful for Attorney Keenan's support of Community Legal Aid for many years," said Executive Director Steven McGarrity. "In his retirement, he discovered his love for pro bono work on behalf of legal aid clients, which ultimately led him to join the board. He will be deeply missed."

Our Wills for Heroes event on May 20 was a success! Local attorneys volunteered their time to help 34 Summit County heroes — retired and active first responders, members of the military and nursing home employees — with preparation of essential estate documents like wills and powers of attorney.

On May 19, we joined legal aid organizations from across Ohio to visit the Ohio Statehouse to share more about the work we do for veterans, senior citizens and survivors of domestic violence.
