The Akron-Canton Advocacy Alliance is working with legislative candidates across our region to provide a comprehensive voter guide for our members.

In the Akron-Canton area, we are closely following 13 races for the Ohio House of Representatives. The winners of these races will begin a two-year term in Jan. 2027, when they will join the 99-member House of Representatives, who are tasked with taking the concerns of their constituents to Columbus, where they propose solutions via legislation.

Scroll through to meet our regional candidates, and head to the full Voter Guide to listen in to our business-focused conversations with them: https://akroncantonadvocacy.org/voter-information-guide-2026/

We are continuously working to meet with and hear from each candidate running for office.

We understand there are real housing and affordability issues that need to be addressed in Akron. But the Greater Akron Chamber believes the proposed permanent changes to the Akron City Charter are not the answer.

"Measures that raise costs and narrow access for the very residents they are meant to help are not progress," said Steve Millard, GAC President and CEO. "Affordability and access need to be addressed, but Issues 11 and 12 are the wrong tools.”

As written, these amendments would make a missed notice a crime, impose strict liability and uncapped damages on property owners and others in the chain of a real estate transaction, and may create conflicts with State law that the city would have to litigate at public expense, among other concerns.

No one plans to be a victim. Employers need to be prepared for when it happens.

This week on the Dreamers, Drivers, Doers podcast, Steve Millard sits down with Rebecca Cool, CEO of Victim Assistance Program of Summit County, the nation's oldest victims service organization that is based right here in Downtown Akron.

Steve was curious to hear how VAP's education programming can teach employers the best way to support their workers when tragedy strikes.

In her first year, Akron-Canton Advocacy Alliance Manager Daisha Okolo has been laser focused on serving the Akron-Canton business community.

Her research on how other states — and the federal government — utilize Research & Development Tax Credits provided invaluable insights for business leaders and Ohio lawmakers.

Our region is lucky to have Daisha as a advocate. Help us congratulate Daisha on her first anniversary with the ACAA!

📈 According to reports from Team NEO, manufacturing activity outpaced 2025 trends in the first six months of 2026. This means Northeast Ohio manufacturing companies are producing and exporting more.

From polymers to food processing, manufacturing powers Greater Akron's economy.
