We are a foster based rescue whose primary goal is to save as many animals from the Vermilion Parish Animal Control facility as we possibly can.

We pay frequent visits to the pound. We also work with the staff who provides us with pictures of the pets and basic information, which we then list online to Petfinder and Adopt A Pet. We then send these lists to other animal welfare organizations and beg them to save some of these pets. Many have been answering our calls and we are very thankful to the many pets they saved! Some pets are also placed in AAVA's adoption program and adopted to the public, but this is only a minority, we simply cannot address this dire situation alone, due to not enough volunteers, foster homes and funding!

🎉🎉🎉 We have an incredible opportunity to move 4 BLACK PUPPIES out of here!! It's so hard to move black dogs in general so to get a chance to move this entire litter is a rare opportunity. There's also an adorable Yorkie mix who gets to tag along. We MUST raise $500 to move these 5 dogs. Transport is more expensive than ever and we need YOUR HELP TO DO THIS!! Sometimes it's so discouraging to load up the boarding dogs and bring them all to Petsmart adoptions only to load them back up and bring them back to boarding. Then do it all again a few weeks later. But they all deserve a chance to find a home no matter how long it takes. Yesterday when we were starting to pack up, some people came and met Gabriel who has been looking for his own home for a couple of years. Today they adopted him. ITS ALL WORTH IT!

💗 Cookie is sweet as pie and feeling so so much better now that her horribly painful eye has been removed. Thank you to everyone who donated for her surgery. She will soon be ready for adoption.

🆘🆘🆘We have not reached our funding goal for Cookie although we did find a foster home! We got an estimate today to include spay with her eye removal. The estimate is 🔴$670🔴Please help us to fund this procedure!

❌❌❌. This is a really graphic photo of sweet Cookie. She's a 6 month old very sweet girl who must have her eye removed. We want to help her and we need to fundraise for her procedure. $500 is needed so please help us to do this. We are also in need of a foster home where she can recover. EIGHT dogs from Vermilion are headed Northeast for a chance at the lives they deserve! ❤️

We’re especially excited that THREE of those dogs were black dogs! Black dogs can sometimes face additional challenges finding homes, making every opportunity like this one even more meaningful!

💙🐾 MEET HANDSOME SHERMAN! 🐾💙

Sherman is approximately 4 years old, weighs 40 pounds, and has the most beautiful gray coat, soulful eyes, and an absolutely irresistible smile!

Shelter life has been overwhelming for this sweet boy. The constant barking and chaos of the kennels frighten him, but he’s slowly gaining confidence. And once he’s outside and away from all that noise, his wonderful personality really shines! 🥹💕

Sherman is an affectionate sweetheart who tested well with other dogs, LOVES belly rubs and treats, and is perfectly happy just lounging in the grass soaking up some love! He’s such a gentle, loving boy when he gets the chance to relax and feel safe.

Sherman is heartworm positive, but heartworms are treatable, and this handsome boy has so much love and life ahead of him!

PLEASE SHARE SHERMAN! Let’s get this sweet boy out of the kennels and into the loving home he deserves! 💙🐾

STOP EVERYTHING and look at this baby!!! 😍❤️

Meet JENNY! At just 4 months old and 24 pounds, this precious little girl has the sweetest face, the most adorable floppy ears, and a smile that could melt absolutely anyone’s heart!

As Forrest Gump would say, “I’m not a smart man, but I know what love is.” And one look at this little sweetheart is all it takes to fall head over heels! 🥹💕

With those big, soulful brown eyes, that happy puppy grin, and her irresistible little head tilts, Jenny is pure puppy perfection! She’s just a baby with her whole life ahead of her, and she should be spending these precious months learning, playing, snuggling, and discovering the world with a family who adores her.

Instead, sweet Jenny is growing up in a shelter, waiting for someone to choose her. 💔

“Run, Forrest, run!” Well, we’d love nothing more than to see Jenny running straight out of those shelter gates and into the arms of her forever family!

This beautiful baby has a lifetime of love to give, and we can’t imagine anyone meeting her and not falling completely in love.

RESCUED

🐾💕 12 POUNDS OF PURE SWEETNESS!!! 💕🐾

Meet JACOB, a precious little nugget!!! 😍❤️

Jacob is a tiny 12-pound sweetheart, approximately 2–5 years old, with the most adorable little face, big brown eyes, and a personality that will absolutely melt your heart!

And do you know what this little guy wanted more than anything when our volunteers spent time with him? A LAP TO CURL UP IN! 🥹💕

While some dogs are busy running around and exploring, Jacob was perfectly content just relaxing in the volunteers’ laps, soaking up the attention and enjoying a little love. This sweet boy seems to understand that sometimes the very best place in the world is right next to someone who cares about you. ❤️

We can just picture Jacob curled up on a cozy couch, snuggled under a blanket, or keeping his favorite person company while they watch TV. He’s the perfect little lap-sized companion, and it’s heartbreaking to think of him spending his nights in a shelter kennel instead of someone’s arms.

Jacob doesn’t need much to be happy. Just a warm lap, a little affection, and someone to call his own. And surely there’s someone out there with room in their heart and home for this precious little guy!

💕🐾 OH, JANET! WHAT A GEM YOU ARE!!! 🐾💕

Please meet Miss Janet, and tell us this girl isn’t absolutely ADORABLE!!! 😍❤️

Janet is approximately 2 years old, weighs 56 pounds, and is just about as sweet as they come! With her beautiful brown eyes, happy smile, and those precious little white socks, she’s got the looks AND the personality to steal your heart!

But what really makes Janet special is her wonderful temperament. She’s friendly, calm, walks nicely on a leash, and tested GREAT with other dogs! 🥰 She’s an easygoing sweetheart who seems perfectly content just enjoying some attention and spending time with people. And clearly, she’s a natural in front of the camera! Just look at her rocking those flower sunglasses! 🌸😎

Janet is the kind of girl who could easily get overlooked in a crowded shelter because she isn’t demanding attention or making a fuss. But spend a little time with her, and you’ll discover what an absolute treasure she is!

This beautiful girl has so much going for her, and we would LOVE to see her walk right out of the shelter and into the loving home she deserves! ❤️
