bringing together Information Technology students, faculty members, and officers for an informative and engaging gathering. The event officially commenced with a solemn opening prayer led by Mr. Jose C. Soriano, President of SVSA, followed immediately by the singing of the National Anthem and Vizcaya Hymn conducted with precision by Ms. Jelyn M. Monte, Table Secretary, JPCS.
With the tone of the day set, Sir Erwil David Pasion, MBA, MIT, the BSIT Program Chair, stepped forward to deliver his inspiring opening remarks. He welcomed the students warmly, encouraging them to strive for academic and professional excellence in the rapidly evolving tech landscape. Thereafter, the gathering took a highly energetic turn. Mr. John Lloyd Sumawang took the stage to lead a Zumba shaking off any lingering afternoon fatigue and filling the room with laughter and movement.
Capturing the lighter side of the student experience, a quick interview segment went around the floor, asking the ultimate question: "Bakit ka nag-IT?" The answers were a humorous and relatable reflection of the student mindset, ranging from ambitious dreams of "dahil mayaman daw" to the highly practical "dahil in demand" and many more, drawing knowing nods and chuckles from everyone present.
Following the introduction of the dedicated faculty and staff led by Sir Erwil Pasion, the focus shifted to the practical guidelines that govern student life on campus. Sir Jarom E. Fronda, MIT, Director of SAS, walked the assembly through the Student Handbook, emphasizing the importance of proper uniforms and campus decorum. Next, Sir John Samu B. Komura, LPT, the BSIT Coordinator for SAS, outlined the plans regarding fines and community service, ensuring everyone understood their responsibilities as student citizens.
To round out the technical regulations, Sir Marlou Felix III S. Cunanan, MBA, MIT, Director of ACCI, discusses the policies inside the computer laboratories. He points out the importance of maintaining a clean, food-free environment, handling the units with utmost care, and respecting the shared space.
Afterwards, an active open forum followed, giving students the chance to voice their concerns and clarify guidelines. Subsequently, the spotlight turned to the department's student organizations. Ms. Delight Yogyog, President of the JPCS, and Mr. Jose Soriano, President of the SVSA, introduced the programsโ organizations. In a notable and grounded address, the presidents delivered a candid piece of advice that resonated deeply with the crowd: โDon't be a headache to your advisers and serve with integrity and dedication.โ
As the assembly drew to a close, Maโam Jamila Elaine Tolentino delivered the closing remarks, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event's success. The crowd then stood proudly for the AC March, once again led by Ms. Jelyn Monte, before Ms. April Joy Desiar brought the event to a peaceful conclusion with a final closing prayer.
The day ended not with code, but with smiles, as the entire BSIT department gathered for a series of group photos, capturing a united community ready to face the academic year ahead.
