“𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝗱.” - Sis. Cecilia
We cannot lead people well if we are unwilling to surrender our own plans to God. Before we ask others to follow us, we must first learn to follow Him.

Just like before Nehemiah led the people in rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls, he first allowed God to lead his heart, decisions, and actions. Nehemiah prayed and sought God before approaching the king (Nehemiah 2:4), and when it was time to lead, he reminded the people that God was the one who would give them success: “The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will 𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙,” (Nehemiah 2:20)

Nehemiah had a plan, but more importantly, he was willing to be led by God, which eventually gave him the courage to lead others to arise and build.

𝗦𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆, ‘𝗔𝗺 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱?’ 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼, ‘𝗔𝗺 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗱?’ Because before God calls us to lead others to arise and build, He first calls us to follow Him.
