Philippine Children's Ministries Network Children enjoying the fullness of life in a loving and nurturing environment

Philippine Children's Ministries Network (PCMN) is a network of 54 faith-based organizations and participating churches with ministries for children-at-risk. PCMN serves as the Commission on Children of the Philippine Council of the Evangelical Churches, a member of the Philippine Interfaith Movement Against Human Trafficking (PIMAHT), and the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) - National Child Protection Working Group. "Children enjoying the fullness of life in a loving and nurturing environment" as an organization's purpose statement, has guided the Network, its members, and partners to endeavor in unifying the Body of Christ to become a strong voice for and on behalf of the children and youth at risk. For its 5-year plan, all its endeavors are in line with the three (3) strategic directions: End Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC), Child Protection in Emergencies, and Family Strengthening. As the Philippines became the hotspot for online sexual exploitation of children since 2018, PCMN invests in increasing communities' capacities to prevent OSEC, works towards policy and systems reform, and provides aftercare services to rescued children. In partnership with local, national, and global stakeholders, including the church, PCMN works towards ending OSEC.

Cultivating a Community of Care: Caring for the Carers Retreat and launch of the toolkit for use by agencies in the anti-trafficking, abuse and exploitation prevention and response, with various agency heads and Board delegates in attendance. It was a refreshing 2-day restful retreat to acknowledge that leaders are people too and they need rest so that they can continue caring and giving. The retreat also placed focus on what can still be improved in the staff care policy and practice within the organizations.

This is through the leadership of the Trauma Support Working Group lead by WTRC, with members She Works, IJM, and PCMN.

Day 1 & 2 | Rollout of the Teachers’ Manual on Online Safety of Children at
Camp Crame Elementary School

A meaningful two-day rollout with 17 participants, including the School Principal, School Child Protection Committee (SCPC) members, teachers, parents, barangay and student representatives, all coming together to strengthen our shared commitment to child protection.

The activity provided an opportunity to deepen our understanding of children’s rights and discuss how we can further strengthen the implementation of the Child Protection Policy in the school.

It also served as a meaningful space for participants to share their experiences, insights, and recommendations, and to develop plans to further promote child protection and strengthen efforts in preventing Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC).

Strengthening Peer Support in Y4S Rizal Chapter

The Y4S Rizal Chapter conducted Peer Support Group Facilitation sessions with youth participants from the San Mateo Cluster and Antipolo City Cluster.

The sessions provided a safe and supportive space for young people to share their experiences, listen to one another, and build connections through peer support. Through guided discussions and meaningful interactions, participants were encouraged to practice empathy, active listening, and mutual support within their respective communities.

These activities are part of the Courage Circle Mental Health Program, which aims to equip young people with safe and supportive peer-based approaches to caring, listening, and leading with heart.

Through initiatives like these, Y4S continues to strengthen youth-led support systems and promote a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for young people.

PCMN in partnership with the Quezon City Public Affairs and Services Department conducted the forum- Bata sa Likod ng Balita: a Forum on Child Sensitive Reporting which aims to protect children in news and media content. It gathered media practioners and first responders such as the police and barangay responders who are often the ones encountering early documentation and have access to information about survivors of abuse and exploitation, and a need to strengthen among media actors right reporting to counter harmful norms and practices. The media and first responders in their frontline roles, have the capacity to shape how stories unfold about rescues and survivors. It is crucial to provide them the right information and guidelines.
