Last May 16, we celebrated the life and beautiful legacy of Kuya John Oranga — a life that touched so many hearts with kindness, generosity, and love. 💙

The Oranga family hosted a joy-filled Celebrate Life Party for the Kythe kids — a day filled with laughter, games, and special giveaways. These are moments that reflected the joy, kindness, and love Kuya John so generously brought to others.

In gratitude and love, the kids offered letters to the Oranga family, sharing their heartfelt messages and prayers. Kythe Foundation also presented a finger-painted canvas created by the children, symbolizing their love and remembrance for Kuya John.

Joining the celebration were Mr. William Bayot, Kythe Board of Trustee, together with the Kythe staff, in honoring a life so meaningful and deeply cherished.

Thank you, Oranga Family, for being part of our Kythe family — for continuously making room for our Kythe kids to experience joy, play, and the beauty of childhood even while facing the challenges of hospital treatment.

Though Kuya John may no longer be with us, his compassion and light will continue to live on in every smile, every memory, and every heart he touched.

Today, we proudly celebrate Ate Alexandra Janine Tiambeng for graduating as Summa Cum Laude and Valedictorian of Ateneo de Manila University Batch 2026. She also served as President of Kythe-Ateneo from 2024–2025, leading with compassion, dedication, and a genuine heart for service. 💙

Throughout her journey, Ate AJ exemplified excellence not only in academics, but also in service and compassion through Kythe-Ateneo. Her experiences with the organization helped shape her into the kind, selfless, and inspiring person she is today, always bringing hope and joy to the children and families she served.

As she begins a new chapter, Ate AJ will pursue medical school and continue her dream of becoming a pediatrician -- always and in all ways, for and with the kids 🙏

Congratulations, Ate AJ, from your Kythe-pamilya! 👏😊

Upon the recommendation of the Committee on Standards, we are pleased to announce that Alexandra Janine A Tiambeng (BS Health Sciences, summa cm laude) is the Valedictorian of the Ateneo College Class of 2026.

“Kampamilya” is a combination of the words "camp" and "pamilya" — reflecting the love, care, and support that surround every child at the Kythe Summer Camp.

To our Kampamilya (Silver) Partners of the 28th Kythe Summer Camp — thank you for making room for chronically ill children to experience joy, healing, and hope.💛

Because of your generosity, our campers will experience unforgettable memories filled with play, friendship, laughter, and the comforting reminder that they are never alone in their journey. ✨

“As long as we allow the child to be happy, to forget that they're sick, to remember that they are kids and that they can play and they can be just the same as everybody... that's what I bring to the table as a volunteer, and that's why I look forward to being part of the camp every year.”

Now in her 8th year, Ms. Michelle Uson-Laurel, International Programs Director and Grants Administrator of Kinder Kanker Genezing, continues to bring this same compassion and commitment to the Kythe Summer Camp. 💛

As the Bayanihan (Platinum) Sponsor of Kythe Summer Camp 2026, Kinder Kanker Genezing helps create meaningful spaces where children with chronic illnesses can experience the joy of play, friendship, and simply being kids again.

Through every shared laugh, activity, and moment of bayanihan, hope and healing become possible for our campers and their families. ✨

Thank you, Kinder Kanker Genezing, for your continued generosity and partnership in making these life-changing summers possible.

Remembering Kuya John Oranga 🤍

Kuya John was a former cancer warrior who faced his journey with courage and grace, and continues to inspire through the love and generosity he left behind.

A loving son, brother, and friend, Kuya John was known for his hearty laugh, love for food, and passion for photography. As a photojournalist from Ateneo de Manila University, he captured meaningful moments and milestones that mattered, telling stories through his lens with heart and purpose.

In 2022, John was diagnosed with Stage IV Rhabdomyosarcoma, and through his experience, he gained a deep understanding of the challenges faced by cancer patients. Even while undergoing his own battle, he held on to his dream of giving back by envisioning a fundraising art gallery showcasing his photography, with proceeds meant to support Kythe children.

Today, Kuya John’s family continues this beautiful vision by supporting Kythe’s campaigns and activities that directly benefit pediatric patients, carrying forward the hope, love, and strength he deeply wished to share.

Though John is no longer here, his spirit of hope and generosity lives on in the children whose lives are touched by his family’s kindness.

Today, on International Day of Families, we honor the strength, love, and resilience of every family walking alongside a child through illness.

At Kythe, we witness how family becomes a child’s greatest source of courage — especially during difficult medical procedures. Through Kythe ChildLife, we support not only the child, but also the parents and loved ones who hold their hands through fear, uncertainty, and healing.

By providing emotional support, preparation, and comforting presence during procedures, we help families face each day with a little more hope and a little less fear. Because no family should ever feel alone in their journey. 💛
