Last week, we joined Vitamin Angels - Philippines and the Department of Health (Philippines) as well as select health workers and pregnant mothers in Capiz. Together, we pretested a package of training design and materials on Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS). 💊🤰

Thanks to this three-leg participative process, we are helping shape and enhance the rollout of MMS to communities nationwide. 👶

Helen Keller International invites qualified individuals, research groups, institutions, and firms to submit proposals for:

RFP No. PH-277: Field-Based Research Group for Data Collection and Data Analysis for LNS-SQ Implementation Science Research

The selected research group will support the implementation of field-based research activities, including qualitative and quantitative data collection, data processing, data analysis, and research report preparation.

📍 Place of Performance:
Nueva Ecija, Negros Oriental, and Lanao del Norte, Philippines

Made in cooperation with Helen Keller Intl - Philippines and Dr. Mianne Silvestre of Kalusugan ng Mag-Ina (KMI), isa itong one-page toolkit na handang i-print ng mga expectant mommies at barangay health workers (BHWs) para sa first 1,000 days ni baby!

Kailangan mo 'to kung:

🔵 BHW ka na naghahanap ng mabilis at malinaw na gabay para sa pamamahagi ng tamang impormasyon sa kalusugan at nutrisyon sa barangay.
🔵 Buntis ka o may kakilalang buntis na gustong siguraduhing kumpleto sa bakuna, bitamina, at tamang pagkain mula pagbubuntis hanggang sa paglaki ni baby.
🔵 Nanay ka ng baby na 0-2 taong gulang at kailangan ng gabay sa exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, at tamang oras ng pagpapatingin sa health center.

Ano ang nilalaman nito?

💚 Gabay sa Nutrisyon: Tamang porsyon ng pagkain (Go, Grow, Glow) para sa buntis at sa baby.
💚 Talaan ng Bakuna at Bitamina: Schedule ng kailangang bakuna, IFA, Calcium, at Vitamin A para sa ina at anak.
💚 Ligtas na Pagpapasuso: Paalala ukol sa exclusive breastfeeding (0-6 na buwan) at pagdadagdag ng masustansyang pagkain (6-24 na buwan).
💚 Warning Signs: Kailan dapat irefer o dalhin agad ang baby sa health center.

National Nutrition Council Region 7 handed out its annual awards for achievements in nutrition, and we're so happy that our partners have been recognized for their amazing work!

🏆 Negros Oriental, now a 3-time Green Banner awardee, sustained nutrition through good governance, integrated planning, and strategic partnerships, and by being a model of collaborative leadership for strong integrated nutrition planning.

🏆 Tanjay City earned its 3rd consecutive Green Banner Seal of Compliance. They further reduced malnutrition from 3.5% to 3.2% in just one year, from 2024 to 2025.

🌱 Bais City is a first year Green Banner awardee after passing ordinances that enabled all its 35 barangays to formulate nutrition action plans and aligned these with other city programs on education, health, and agriculture while ensuring dedicated funding for nutrition programs that address specific community needs.

🥕 Barangay Mabunao of Bais City received the Promising LGU Award for helping families grow backyard vegetables and engaging farmers to support malnourished children.

👩‍👧 And celebrating grassroots leadership is Ms. Jocelyn F. Yape, an Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar with 18 years of dedicated service in Barangay Rosario also in Bais City.
