𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟰𝟳 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗛 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗘𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗕𝗖𝗣-𝗘𝗖𝗠𝗜 𝗟𝗨𝗭𝗢𝗡 𝟭𝗦𝗧 𝗚𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗗 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗞𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗞𝗢𝗗 𝗢𝗙𝗪

These 47 parishes were conferred the CBCP-ECMI Luzon 1st Gawad Parokyang Lingkod OFW as awardees for their outstanding implementation of parish migrant ministry. These parishes came from 14 dioceses in Luzon, reflecting the growing commitment of the Catholic Church in accompanying OFWs, migrants, seafarers, itinerant people, and their families.

The CBCP-ECMI strengthened its commitment to the holistic welfare of OFW families and their children through the signing of a Memorandum of Partnership Agreement (MOPA) with Santo Catholic Mission, ETVN Philippines, and Safe Schools Philippines, Inc. (SSP) during the 40th National Migrants’ Sunday (NMS) Luzon Celebration on September 27, 2026, at Janssen Hall, Christ the King Mission Seminary, Quezon City.

The partnership aims to promote faith formation, positive values, family strengthening, and child and youth safety, while developing collaborative initiatives that respond to the needs of OFW families and their children.

The agreement was signed by Most Rev. Socrates C. Mesiona, MSP, Chairman of CBCP-ECMI; John Jofin, Founder and CEO of Santo Catholic Mission; Direk Ben “M7” Yalung of ETVN Philippines; and Dr. Arlene Escalante-Eluwa, Chairperson of Safe Schools Philippines, Inc.

The initial phase of the partnership will be cascaded throughout the Luzon Region, working with diocesan and parish migrant ministries to bring the programs closer to OFW families, children, and communities.

The partnership brings together the Church and its partner organizations in advancing programs that help OFW families grow in faith and values and create safer environments for their children and young people.

The CBCP-ECMI convened the country’s three key government agencies on migration—the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO)—for the signing of a Memorandum of Partnership Agreement (MOPA) during the 40th National Migrants’ Sunday (NMS) Luzon Celebration on September 27, 2026, at Janssen Hall, Christ the King Mission Seminary, Quezon City.

The agreement was signed in a shared commitment to strengthen collaboration and coordinated services for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), migrant families, and communities, particularly in the areas of protection, welfare, formation, and pastoral support.
Representing the government agencies were CFO Secretary Dante Ang II, OWWA Deputy Administrator Atty. Jasmine Ann B. Gapatan, and DMW Undersecretary Atty. Bernard Olalia. The CBCP-ECMI was represented by its Chairman, Most Rev. Socrates C. Mesiona, MSP. Bishop Mesiona currently chairs the CBCP Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People.

The MOPA will serve as a framework for stronger Church-government cooperation in responding to the needs and concerns of migrants and their families. Its implementation will be cascaded to the different regions where diocesan migrant ministries are present, bringing the partnership closer to OFWs and migrant communities at the local level.

The CBCP-ECMI 40th National Migrants’ Sunday (NMS) celebration in the Luzon Region began with a Holy Mass led by ECMI Chairman Bishop Socrates Mesiona, together with ECMI Board Member Bishop Napoleon Sipalay, at the Diocesan Shrine of Jesus, the Divine Word – SVD, Quezon City, on September 27, 2026.

Hinimok ni Puerto Princesa Bishop Socrates Mesiona ang mga obispo at pari na higit pang palakasin ang migrant ministry sa mga diyosesis at parokya, kasabay ng pagpapatibay ng pakikipagtulungan ng Simbahang Katolika sa pamahalaan para sa kapakanan ng mga Overseas Filipino Workers o OFWs, mga migante at ng kanilang pamilya.
