WE SHARE THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
to the world through this ministry of caring for sick, retired and elderly priests.
Reflecting on the Gospel (Mark 4:21-25) for today, Dumaguete Bishop Julito B. Cortes, D.D., new chairman of the Episcopal Commission for the Retired, Sick and Elderly Priests, addressed the lay volunteers, collaborators and benefactors of the Ephesus Ministry with these words:
“We are supposed to be lamps to light the path of others, lamps to draw others closer to the Lord, and lamps to give hope to others. We are not to hide our gifts, talents and resources! Let us use them to better the lives of others and in the process, more will be given to us. ‘For the one who has, more will be given (Mark 4:25).’
Whatever we do in the ministry, may we have the dedication and resolve to continue! ‘Never get tired of doing what is good to your brothers and sisters, for in the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).’ Never get tired of doing what is good!”
May all the bishops, priests and lay collaborators involved in the care of the retired, sick, and elderly priests in the Philippines, continue to be bearers of light and joy, and grow in generosity and selflessness as they offer their gifts through this special ministry.
