Local veterinarians and animal health workers are the first line of defense against animal disease outbreaks. Working on the frontlines, they play a vital role in preventing and detecting threats early and responding to diseases from spreading into larger outbreaks.
However, without adequate support and essential tools such as personal protective equipment (PPE), and the knowledge to use them properly, their ability to protect livestock and communities is limited.
Through (Local Animal Disease Detection and Emergency Response) Training, an initiative led by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations - Philippines and the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Animal Industry , we are strengthening frontline capacities to help safeguard animals including public health, protect livelihoods, and food security.
This initiative is under the Resilient Philippines Project of the Pandemic Fund, helping build pandemic resilience in the country through improved preparedness, prevention, detection, and response, following a Approach.
