Hi readers. We have been communicating with MPI over the past few weeks. They are aware of our charity’s project to operate within the home-kill rules to bring significantly lower priced meat to members of our charity’s 'Community Needs' Group. This group is open to all who are struggling financially with the high cost of meat.
To be able to deliver this support project we need farmers who can donate their lame, injured or aged animals to our charity. These animals will be processed into mince – and sold to families who are struggling only for the cost of engaging home-kill butchers (approx $7.50-$8.00 per kg). Tens of thousands of families struggle each week with the high supermarket prices. The low-cost mince packs will be very much appreciated by these households.
We will arrange for a home-kill truck to come to your farm. It would be great if farmers could bury the offal etc – There be a saving of $120 of the home-kill cost if farmers could bury the offal. Thank you for reading this post - please share if you can. - Angela Sothern
