Meet the Candidates – Thank You Post

A huge thank you to all the candidates — and the fantastic audience — who came out to our Meet the Candidates event at the Kaurihohore Hall tonight.

The room was full of energy and it was great to see our community so engaged.

Whangārei General Electorate Candidates

A big thank you also to the Kaurihohore Hall Committee, our parking helpers, the tea crew, and NRC Councillor Geoff Crawford for MCing the evening.

Good luck to all candidates as they head into a very busy campaign period leading up to Election Day on 7 November.

QUIZ NIGHT was a great success and a lot of fun.

A big thankyou to everyone who came, together creating a great atmosphere.
The winning teams were

Oh, I forgot 3rd.

Thankyou to Jayden our resident MC from Kamo Bin Inn; Michael Jujnovich and Lynette Taylor for organising and running the Auction; helpers on the floor, Judith, Christine, and Sky;
Cassie for all the assistance she gave Warrick with preparation and marking.

We made $1560 from team registration, $560 from the Auction, and $260 from the Joker round. A total of $2,380. This is helping the committee complete the storage/cleaning cupboard in the kitchen and contributes also to maintenance of the Kaurihohore Public Hall

Want to hear directly from the candidates seeking your vote for either the Whangarei Electorate (General electorate) or the Te Tai Tokerau (Māori electorate) in this year's General Election?

The Kaurihohore Public Hall Society invites you to an informative and engaging Meet the Candidates evening, providing local residents with the opportunity to hear from, and ask questions of, candidates representing a range of political parties.

GUEST SPEAKER FOR AGM, 24 AUGUST 6.30PM - CR SCOTT MCKENZIE

We are pleased to welcome Cr Scott McKenzie - Deputy Mayor of Whangārei and Councillor for the Hikurangi-Coastal Ward, as our guest speaker at our AGM on Monday 24 August, 6.30pm.

Born and raised in Whangārei, Scott is a registered architect with more than 15 years' experience in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Before entering local government, he worked on a range of award-winning residential, civic and social housing projects, bringing a strong background in planning, design and infrastructure to his governance role.

First elected to Whangārei District Council in 2022 and appointed Deputy Mayor in 2025, Scott is passionate about building a liveable, sustainable and connected district while representing the interests of Whangārei's coastal, rural and township communities.

Scott will provide a brief overview of Whangarei District Council's current priorities and the key opportunities and challenges facing our district.

Hi there Quizers.
We have 13 full teams all paid up. Looking forward to seeing you on Friday 11th September.
Doors open at 6.30pm, Quiz starts at 7pm.
Bring your own drinks and nibbles.
Bring $20 cash per team for the Joker round if you'd like double points on one round of your choosing.
Auction at half time.
