Up next in the 2026 SPCA Purina New Zealand National Volunteer Awards is the award for Sensational Centre Team! 🩵 And the winners are… drumroll please…. Shannon, Nadia and Kathy Morgan, from our Whangārei Centre! 🏆️

This amazing trio comes into the Centre three morning a week, and take on any task that comes their way. Whether that’s sorting food, mopping floors, lawn mowing, fundraising, general maintenance, collecting food donations from supermarket bins, tidying the garage or cleaning litter trays, no job is too big or small. A huge job they often take on is washing, drying, and putting away animal bedding, with Kathy regularly taking loads of laundry home to dry.

Our Whangārei team say that “their dedication with helping our Centre is outstanding, and we really would struggle without them. With a small Centre team, we appreciate and rely on them – they really are part of the family.”

Lyra is a very pretty girl with a cheeky personality that shines once she feels comfortable. She may be a little shy when first settling into a new home, but with patience and kindness she quickly warms up and shows her sweet, playful side.
