See you on Monday at 6pm at b.social for our Annual General Meeting: our chance to come together as a club to hear updates on what we've achieved this year and plan for the year ahead, including the long-awaited Mount Iron development.

This year is a little different in that we need to vote in the new constitution, as required by the Incorporated Societies Act 2022. Members have been emailed a draft - so if you haven't received anything, make sure your HivePass email address is up to date. Otherwise, you can have a read here: http://bit.ly/3Q1zTeD

Beyond that, we'll be voting in some new members to our committee and sub-committees, and farewelling some of our existing legends.

Last but not least, bring your questions! We'll be leaving a big chunk of time for a Q&A. See you there!

Bike Wānaka is busier than ever with lots of exciting projects in the pipeline, including new Mount Iron trails, a Lismore pump track and long-term thinking about the future of Sticky Forest.

To get these across the line, we’re looking for more volunteers – both committee roles and project-focused sub-committees.

Whether you bring governance experience, planning skills, community connections, or simply passion and time, there’s a way to contribute.

If you’re interested, click on the relevant link below for more details and to apply.

👉 COMMITTEE MEMBER POSITIONS
Apply here: https://forms.gle/xNVzC6EttHYuRpDd8

EVENTS: A fun role focused on planning and running Bike Wānaka events. From classics like the Super Series races, to planting days, to more left-field ideas… Sticky Forest Speed Dating, anyone?! Plenty of scope for someone who loves organising and bringing the biking community together.

MEMBERSHIPS: A key role for the club right now. As Wānaka grows, so does the biking community – and growing membership is central to everything we do. Members don’t just support Bike Wānaka financially; they strengthen our voice when advocating for funding and support for projects like the Mt Iron trails.

👉 SUB-COMMITTEE POSITIONS
Apply here: https://forms.gle/H1F2dJNJF9eJvoSf9

FUNDING: Help with grant and funding applications for exciting (and sizeable!) club projects – most notably the new Mt Iron trails. This role supports our Secretary and Treasurer and makes a huge difference to what we can deliver.

TRAIL DIGGING LEADS: Our trails don’t maintain themselves – and we’re lucky to have an awesome crew keeping them in prime condition. We’re looking for people to lead volunteer dig days from Autumn to Spring, when digging conditions are prime.

TRAIL TRIMMERS: Keen to help trim back trails? This flexible role lets you work in your own time – no need to attend scheduled dig nights. Get in touch and we’ll let you know current priority trails. Tools provided if needed.

👉 CASUAL VOLUNTEERS

Not ready for a role but still want to help the Club? That’s awesome too. We're looking for more volunteers to give us a hand at events and dig days, as well as who offer specific skills (community engagement, planning, funding, admin etc). Even a few hours makes a real difference.

Big news for the local riding community – the Lake Hawea Epic is back.

After a five year hiatus, the Lake Hāwea Epic returns on Saturday 28 March 2026, offering riders exclusive access across two privately owned high country stations – Hunter Valley and Di**le Burn – terrain that’s normally closed to the public.

Riders can choose between the 125km Epic or the 95km Classic, with both categories open to regular bikes and E-bikes.

We know we'll see a bunch of our club members there – it's hard to say no to an event like this. Entries close March 6th.

The third edition of The Reset Brevet is almost here – starting on the shores of Lake Wānaka before heading deep into the Central Otago landscapes we all know and love.

Kicking off this Friday, riders taking on The Long Haul will cover 550km with over 9,000m of climbing. The Weekender isn’t exactly a cruisy option either – with 370km and 5,500m+ of vert.

It’s not one for the faint-hearted, but it’s a journey worth digging deep for – and another local event we're excited to see happening again in our back yard.

To all our club members partaking... good luck 🥵

TRACK CLOSURE NOTICE: Tomorrow, Wednesday 11th February.

We have been informed of work being done on a cell tower at the base of Sticky Forest near Forest Heights, resulting in some closures and diversions. It looks like Hoe Down will still be accessible via Dry Fly ave or Kirimoko. Other access points such as Venus Landing, Kirimoko and the Outlet remain unaffected.
