Up for adoption: Benjamin (the barn cat) 😺

This is a ginger male kitty, approx. 12 months old. We are desperately seeking a safe outdoor home for Benjamin.

He came to Cat Rescue Wanaka off Death Row after being trapped and there was concern he was a domesticated, owned cat. Turns out he's not. So we are urgently seeking a place where he can settle in outside and be chief of Rodent Patrol 👀🐁

He is desexed, microchipped and registered. Food and any vet costs will be covered.

UP FOR ADOPTION: MAUI 🧶

Maui was a wild/feral rescue kitten but it only took a couple of hours to go from terrified and hiding in his cage to having the humans pick him up and loving the cuddles and playing.

He is a funny character and makes the cutest excited chirups/funny noises when playing with his favourite fish wand toy or when he's doing hilarious zoomies around the lounge! 🎣 Maui even taught himself to fetch with the fish toy, he loves to bring it back to your feet if you place it up somewhere high.

When play time is up, he can get cuddly and enjoys laying on your chest with the odd chin lick and super loud purrs. He's also very interested in the TV and what's on your dinner plate to add to the comedy and cuteness appeal! (He has been trained that human food is not for him but the occasional sneaky attempts are, apparently, very entertaining!) 🥲🍽

Because of his charm, Maui's foster parents were planning on keeping him as their own as an addition to their cat clan. 🐾Unfortunately, though, one of the three other cats is unimpressed with the little one, and despite trying everything, she will not be swayed to Maui's side.

Maui would love a younger kitty sibling (under 1 year) or would be equally happy just with his humans. No experience with kids or dogs but he is quite bold and loves to play so it could possibly work out.

UP FOR ADOPTION: WALLACE (WALLY) 🐈

Wallace (although everyone has taken to calling him Wally) is a joy!! If his foster parents could, they would keep him in a heartbeat.

Wally is a sassy, food motivated, weird little guy. He loves cuddles (on his terms) and chasing tiny bits of paper. And food, did we mention food? He’s very soft and cuddly and loves to come snuggle up in bed or on your chest. 🤩

Wally is about 8 years old now. He is very much an anxious little man who struggled to find a forever home in his younger years. It was expected for him to take a long time to warm up to new people. Although he did hide under the bed initially, with a bit of empathy, time sitting with him, and most importantly, some treats, he came out of his shell by day two and was getting some pats.

Wally needs a home that will be able to treat him with kindness and put in a little bit of work to earn his trust. 💞 As soon as you do, you will be rewarded with the cutest wee companion.

He has big saucer eyes that might stare at you with in terror first… and then pleading for food once he gets to know you. He also doesn’t really meow properly; they’re more like adorable little chirps and warbles. Unless its mealtime, in which case he will definitely be telling you about it.

Wally has escaped his foster home a couple of times but has always come back within a couple hours (looking for food) 😜✌️ He spends a good portion of his day keeping watch on the world and would appreciate a home where he could go explore, if possible.

Wally has been flourishing having space to himself so he would do best in a quiet household without other animals or small children.

His current foster parents say: “We know you’ll fall in love with him just as much as we have!”

🐈🐾 Short term pet sitter needed! Can you help?

Bambi's owner would love to find a cat lover who could take Bambi in for a few weeks (4-8 weeks) while he is moving house.

Bambi is about 9 months old. He's shy at first but will come out of his shell; when he does, he is loving and playful. 🧶 He shows his affection through rubbing noses and will come over for pats. This little one spoons at night or sleeps at the bottom of the bed between feet. 💤

Bambi's dad will lend you his top notch litter box, pet fountain, toys, and food for him. He'll cover all expenses to do with Bambi while you look after his fur baby.

Bambi would need a quieter household as he is not used to other cats and dogs. He is an inside cat, so strictly not to be let out of the house.

Mackenzie, a high school student from Wanaka, recently organised an incredible high tea to raise funds for Cat Rescue 🫖🍰

Thank you so much Mackenzie, and to all who joined you for some delicious desserts! We can tell you went above and beyond for the occasion and it means a lot.

The donation arrives just in time to help us with kitten season 🥰

We love seeing young people taking the initiative to support causes they believe in!!!!!

ADOPTED!

ALFIE 🌲

Alfie the wilderness explorer is ready to find his forever home!

After spending some time exploring the world on his own, Alfie came to a family in hopes of finding somewhere he could truly settle. Unfortunately, the fosterer's resident kitties were a little stubborn about sharing their space, so they're now looking for the perfect forever home for this sweet boy.

In the time they’ve gotten to know Alfie, his fosterers have discovered a few very important things:

🐾 He LOVES catnip!
🐾 He has the loudest purring machine ever.
🐾 He absolutely loves a good feed.

A sweet older gentleman, Alfie loves a good cuddle and is happiest just hanging out with his people. He's full of personality and often announces his presence with an adorable “quack” instead of a traditional meow.

Alfie can be a little nervous around loud noises but once he gets to know you he becomes much more comfortable. He doesn’t seem particularly worried around children or people, and enjoys keeping an eye on everything happening around him.

Alfie could happily live with another calm, friendly cat. He's been seen playing with the resident male cat on a few occasions so with the right feline companion he may enjoy having a buddy around.

During the day, Alfie loves to monitor what everyone is up to before settling down for a big afternoon nap in a sunny spot ☀️💤

After being a bit of a cave man for a while, Alfie may need some patience, TLC and time to properly adjust to his new surroundings. Once he feels safe and comfortable, we think he’ll make an incredibly loving and wonderful family member.
