Wanaka A&P Show

Wanaka A&P Show Next event: March 12th & 13th, 2027. Celebrating and showcasing agricultural excellence through innovation, education & competition.

The Wanaka A&P Show is one of New Zealand’s largest agricultural and pastoral events, attracting more than 40,000 people each year. Run over two days and set on picturesque Showgrounds overlooking Lake Wanaka, the Show includes traditional features such as equestrian and livestock events, home industry displays, wool classing and more than 450 trade stalls from around the country. The Wanaka Show

also runs novelty events – like the famous Jack Russell race, wood chopping and old-fashioned sheaf tossing – plus family entertainment and live music. Where town meets country, the Wanaka Show is the South Island’s premier lifestyle event.

A great opportunity for rural women this winter 🌾

Community Link Upper Clutha, with support from the Wānaka A&P Foundation, has teamed up with Grow Us Well to deliver a series of practical wellbeing workshops across the Upper Clutha.

The first session, Built for Seasons - Cycle Smart for Rural Women, is happening on 19 May at the Wanaka Community Hub. It’s designed for women in farming, trades, and construction who want to better understand how hormonal cycles impact energy, mood, and productivity - and how to work with them, not against them.

Expect practical, down-to-earth strategies to better align your workload, wellbeing, and self-care with the realities of rural life.

As we wrap up another wonderful Wanaka A&P Show, the board and crew would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the 89th event such a success.

From our exhibitors, competitors, sponsors and vendors, to the volunteers and every single person who came through the gates - your support means the world to us and is what keeps this much-loved event thriving year after year.

The voluntary board and professional event team put in thousands of hours each year behind the scenes, and seeing a record crowd through the gates - along with the significant community funds generated for the Wanaka A&P Foundation - is a rewarding reflection of a job well done.

While we take a moment to reflect and celebrate, planning is already underway for a very special milestone. We look forward to welcoming you back for the 90th Wanaka A&P Show on March 12–13, 2027.

Thank you again, and we’ll see you next year.

To our 2026 Wānaka A&P Show partners - thank you.

Your support goes far beyond simply approving an invoice. You host and haul, plan and pitch in, and help bring the show to life.

You share the passion for advancing New Zealand’s rural industry and protecting the unique Kiwi way of life we’re so proud of. And just as importantly, you show up for the people - for the yarns, the activations, and the chance to celebrate a job well done.

We’re incredibly grateful to stand alongside you.

Thank you for being such a valued part of the Wānaka A&P Show.

What a show. What a weekend. What a turnout.

With more than 45,000 people through the gates over two days, the 2026 Wanaka A&P Show was one for the books - and the Equestrian team would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who played a part in making it such a success.

To our incredible committee, thank you for the months of planning, problem-solving and behind-the-scenes work that brings this event to life. Another successful two days of top class competition was delivered across 3 rings. This small but mighty team manage to curate one of the top shows in the country, and for that we are beyond proud. We have been incredibly passionate about making this show your favourite on the calendar, and making sure every experience is a good one.

Livestock Manager - Fe Howie
Head of Equestrian - Virginia Wells
Committee: Cate Howie-Hughes, Jamie Hughes, Lydia Beales, Warren Hewson, Tussock Lucas, Emma Rowe-Pledger, Nicky McKay, and Ian Tippett.

To our valued sponsors and supporters, thank you for backing our section and helping us deliver an event we are so proud of.

To our judges, volunteers and stewards, thank you for your time, energy, patience and professionalism across the weekend. The smooth running of our rings simply would not happen without you.

To our wonderful photographers, thank you for capturing the spirit, action and special moments that make our show what it is - and for helping keep those at home updated with live results and coverage throughout the event.

And most importantly, to our competitors - thank you. Thank you for your support, your sportsmanship, your turnout, and for bringing such a high standard of competition to Wanaka. You are the heart of our equestrian section, and we are so grateful you chose to be part of it.

We are incredibly proud of what was achieved this year and thankful to every single person who contributed to the success of the Equestrian Section.

Until next year. 🀍
