A massive thank you to all of you who turned up today. I had the best time getting to know you all and continuing these important conversations. You all smashed it and man what an absolute perfect day for it.
It started cool then the fog came in. This allowed for a nice cool climb. Thinking we may not get a view at the summit it then opened up as we approached the final pinch like someone opening the doors for us. We were then greeted with the best view in the region (in my opinion) and a blue bird day for the decent.
I look forward to seeing you all again next year.

What an absolute honor..🥲😁

I have just received a special package in the post to inform me that I have been named one of 2024 Kiwibank New Zealand Local Hero of the year medalist.
This award recognises New Zealanders who are making a real and lasting difference to their communities.
When I started Turn The Corner I never in my wildest dreams thought it was going to have such an impact on so many people for so many different reasons. The support from my community has been overwhelming and the ripple effect has spread the conversations nationwide and even internationally.
It might take one person to stand up and get the wheels turning but to keep those wheels turning it takes a community. The culture that surrounds mental health doesn’t change just because one person says it should, it changes by doing and as a community that’s what we have all done. This medal may have my name on it but as far as I’m concerned it’s yours too. So congratulations to all of you for being part of the bigger picture. Whether that’s by getting yourself educated, creating open conversations with friends and family, checking in on friends and family or just because you pushed through the dark days.
The gratitude I feel right now I can’t even put into words.

Friday 29th Nov, 2024.!!
Yes it’s early but with so many people talking of potentially traveling from not only across the country to join in next year, but also there is a bit of interest internationally.
This will also hopefully give you all plenty of time to book your flights and accommodation, give you time to train (no excuses this time😉), Give you a goal to aim towards, a reason to get into nature, a reasons to start training, a reason to continue through the colder months or just the reason you needed to start your journey to create change in your life.
Lots more information to come later next year.

On Friday the first annual Turn The Corner climb was completed - even in the snowy October conditions!
Incredible to see Glen's ongoing efforts to continue to raise awareness around mental health within the community. Also amazing to see how many joined him for the climb up despite the weather.

Keep an eye out as Turn The Corner is continuing to evolve with a new exciting project coming very soon!

Turn the Corner annual climb done and dusted for another year!!
Start training as next years date will be released soon.
A massive thank you to everyone who managed to drag themselves out of their nice warm beds today to climb and chat about such an important topic.
Today weather was a real example of life with depression. . Some days are just s**t and not really how you want it to be. But you get up anyway and put one foot in front of the other in hope it will get better. Keep moving forward and you will be rewarded.
I could have quite easily canceled today based on the weather forecast but I didn’t, and I’m so glad for that.
17 of us braved the weather and had a blast. No we did not make the summit as it was not going to be safe to continue. The summit is not what it is about, it’s the people. Meeting new and catching up with old friends engaging in honest open conversation around mental health.
These guys and girls were also the first to be treated with the exciting news of what’s next for Turn the Corner.
Turn the Corner is evolving!! And we will be launching real soon the exciting new project to break down barriers surrounding mental health and seeking support.
