What an incredible weekend in Wellington at the
NZRDA 2026 Conference!

So good to connect with everyone and learn more about the other RDA groups around the country . The rider stories were inspiring, and we packed a lot in over the 2 days - governance, funding ideas, the changing face of volunteering, and getting the most out of social media.

The interactive workshop was a great way to work through some key topics too.

A huge thank you to the New Zealand Riding for the Disabled National Office team and all the brilliant speakers. Well done on putting together a brilliant conference.

We got together for a lovely lunch at Edgewater to celebrate and thank our amazing volunteers. Not everyone could make it, but we’re so grateful for each and every one of them.

With over 40 volunteers, we simply couldn’t run our RDA sessions without their support.

The joy RDA brings to our riders is something we all get to share in too, and I think that is the “why” for a lot if not all of our volunteers.

Thank you again to all of our volunteers. We’re looking forward to getting started again in October 🐴✨

We wrapped up our final day for Term 1 today – and we won’t be back again until October.

It wouldn’t be Easter without an Easter egg hunt, so our riders headed off on a little ride to track down those delicious treats!

Our lovely riders from MAC also made each volunteer a gift, which was so thoughtful and very much appreciated.

A big thank you to all of our incredible volunteers who dedicate their time to help us run these sessions for our riders. We simply couldn’t do it without you.

To Carol and her team at Waterfall Equestrian ,you work tirelessly behind the scenes to help make each day run smoothly, and we’re so grateful.

And of course, to all of our gorgeous RDA horses, your patience and gentle natures are appreciated by us all.

See you all again in October!

Thank you to the wonderful volunteers who helped out at the two fundraising activities over the busy festive season. The Lake Hawea Picnic Races were very busy with record numbers attending that kept our gate keeping volunteers on their toes. The weather was a bit showery at the Rodeo but that didn't stop people attending and we are thankful to those who donated money to Wanaka RDA in exchange for programs. Your generosity is most appreciated. Thank you to Hawea Picnic Races committee and Wanaka Rodeo committee for giving us these fund raising opportunities.

That’s a wrap for 2025 - we had our last ride for the year today. What a stunner of a day we had for it!

We couldn’t run these sessions without the help of all our amazing volunteers. Each and every one of you help make our RDA sessions happen.

We also couldn’t do these sessions without the team at Waterfall Equestrian Centre. Thank you so much for all of your help this year!

To our amazing RDA horses - enjoy your well deserved break, our riders absolutely adore you.

And last but not least, to all of the carers, parents and support crew for our riders - thank you for everything that you do, and we appreciate the support you show to Wānaka RDA.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year - we look forward to seeing everyone again in 2026 🥳
