Coming up next week - Wednesday 10th June

Register and engage with locally-based, national leading expertise, for an active, interactive evening - focussing the modern approaches to coaching - constraint and game-based learning - applicable to any sport and any level of participant.

The evening will flow from the generic through to sport specific, with elements of culture creation / positive behaviour and more, as well as other add-ons around athlete welfare.

A first, one-stop, snap-shot, of all that is great about coaching - and the start of a collective local model of support and education for this region.

A number of our local representative cricketers worked with Barry over the years as he was an athlete life mentor while they progress into higher teams, helping to juggle the demands of sport and school / university / life.

He sure will be missed by many in the Wairarapa and NZ Sport - but we can get out and share in a GREAT walk at the end of May

Wairarapa Cricket would like to announce the Senior Mens Rep coaching team for next season onwards - Chris Jefferies (CJ) and Ali Payne.

Both are heavily involved in cricket within the Wairarapa already / have been over a number of years, so it is great to have them on board in the Senior Mens space for next season to drive our young squad forward with some experienced older players as well.

CJ has played many a season in Wairarapa, and is now part of the Wanderers Cricket and Masters cricket set up - representing NZ in the masters cricket with games vs Australia, and driving Wairarapa to have our masters players included in these opportunities.

Ali has been a previous Wairarapa Cricket age group coach over past seasons, and is currently the coach of the Wairarapa College 1st XI Boys cricket team.

Both have also helped out with umpiring local pathway and school fixtures when required

They already have some ideas and plans, so it will be great to see how it all develops over the off season leading into next season where we can develop on the great work from previous coaches Mark Childs, Mark Jonas and Iain McKay over previous seasons.

Both CJ and Ali are heavily involved in Rugby refereeing so no doubt a busy few months for them pre cricket season
