✨ MONDAY. SCHOOL HOLIDAYS. ✨

For some, this is the break we’ve been waiting for.

No alarms. No school bell. No assignments. A chance to breathe.

But for some, the holidays can bring their own kind of stress.

More time at home. Less routine. Missing your mates. Boredom. Whānau stuff. Or just having way too much time to sit with your own thoughts.

So whatever your holidays look like, there’s no right way to do them.

You don’t have to make them exciting.
You don’t have to be productive.
You don’t even have to be having a good time every day.

Just look after yourself where you can. Get outside. Sleep in. See your people. Have a kōrero. Do something you enjoy. Or have a day where you do absolutely nothing.

And if things are feeling a bit much, you don’t have to wait until you’re at breaking point to reach out.

Youthline is here 24/7.

MYTH VS. REALITY 👀

There are plenty of assumptions about what happens when you reach out for support.

That you have to be in crisis.
That someone will judge you.
That your parents will automatically be told everything.
That you need to have a “big enough” problem to ask for help.

The reality? It doesn’t have to be like that.

Sometimes reaching out is simply having a kōrero, getting something off your chest, asking for some advice, or having someone help you make sense of what’s going on.

You don’t need to wait until things feel overwhelming before you talk to someone.

No big explanation. No perfect words. Just a place to start. 🩵

Need a good kōrero?
We’re on your side.
All ears No judgement.

SO… WHAT ACTUALLY IS A YOUTH WORKER? 👀

It’s not sitting across a desk asking you how you feel.

It’s not telling you what you should be doing.

And it definitely isn’t just for young people who are “in trouble”.

Youth work can look like:

🏀 kicking a ball around while having a yarn
🎨 creating something when talking feels too hard
🎣 getting out of the office and doing something practical
🗣️ working through school, whānau or friendship stuff
💡 figuring out what you actually want for your future
🔥 building confidence, leadership and communication skills
🌱 learning more about who you are and where you come from

Sometimes it’s a serious conversation.

Sometimes it’s a laugh.

Sometimes it’s just showing up consistently until a young person realises, “Oh… this person actually gets me.”

That’s youth work.

That’s what we do. 🩵

Youthline Wairarapa works alongside rangatahi not above them.

PLOT TWIST: nobody actually knows what they’re doing.

Some people just look like they’ve got it figured out.

They’ve got the job.
The relationship.
The study sorted.
The money.
The plans.

Meanwhile you’re like:

“Am I supposed to know what I’m doing by now?” 🫣😅

You’re not behind.

You’re figuring it out.

And sometimes figuring it out means changing direction, starting again, asking for help, or admitting you don’t know.

That’s life. No instruction manual included.

🎮 NEW WEEK UNLOCKED 🔓

Monday has entered the chat.

No idea what this week is gonna throw at you yet… and honestly, neither do we 😂

So what’s your strategy?

🎯 Lock in
🛌 Survive
😂 Wing it
👀 See what happens

Whatever level you’re on this week, you don’t have to play it solo.

Life doesn’t come with a RESPAWN Button…

But it does come with checkpoints! 🎯

In a game, you don’t restart because you struggled.

You learn.
You adapt.
You try again.

Life is a bit like that too. 🎮🩵

Some seasons are harder levels.
Some missions take longer than others.
And sometimes you need another player beside you.

You don’t have to run the whole map alone.

🩵 Every conversation starts with someone taking the first step.

We’re proud to be part of the wider Youthline whānau and to support this year’s Walk the Talk challenge.

Whether you walk, run, swim or dance, every step helps ensure young people have someone to turn to when they need it most.

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, this is your sign. Rally your friends, whānau, workplace or school and join us in making a difference.

Because every young person deserves to know they’re not alone. 🩵

Walk the Talk is back for 2026!

This September, we're challenging Aotearoa to move every day for 30 days and raise funds to help keep Youthline's 24/7 Helpline there for young people who need it most.

Right now, more young people than ever are reaching out for support. Every step you take and every dollar you raise helps ensure that when a young person picks up the phone, sends a text, or starts a webchat, someone is there to answer.

Walk. Run. Swim. Dance. Move your way.

Join as an individual, gather your friends and whānau, rally your workplace, or get your school involved.

💙 Walk the Talk. Answer the Call.
