SPCA Hastings Centre SPCA's Hastings Centre sits on a greenbelt just south of Hastings Central.

An extensive building, the Hastings Centre has a reasonably large capacity compared to other regional centres with approx. 1,200 animals coming into our care each year.

🐾 30% OFF KITTEN ADOPTIONS 🐾
Starting tomorrow, we're offering 30% off the adoption fee for our beautiful kittens in Room 2 at Hastings SPCA.

Many of these kittens have been with us since they were very young. Some were dumped, others were found abandoned, lost and alone. They were rescued and have received lots of love and care from our dedicated team and amazing foster families. Now they're ready to find the loving homes they deserve.

These sweet kittens will be waiting at the door to greet you, hoping to meet their forever family. This special offer comes from our hearts, with the goal of helping more kittens find the homes they've been waiting for.

📍 We are open Monday to Saturday, 10:00am – 3:00pm.

To speed up the adoption process, you can complete an adoption application online before visiting. Applications can be transferred to another kitten if you fall in love with someone different, or if you decide to welcome two kittens into your home.

Just one month ago, little Mouse said goodbye to the Hastings SPCA and headed off to his forever home. 💙

We recently received this wonderful update from his family:

"Hello! We adopted Mouse last month and I wanted to send through some update photos of how he's doing. He's settled so well into our home. He is the funniest and most entertaining little guy I have ever met! We couldn't love him more! 🤩"

Stories like Mouse's remind us why we do what we do. Seeing our animals thrive in loving homes is the best reward. Thank you to Mouse's family for giving him the happy ending he deserves, and for sharing these beautiful updates with us.

Meet our newest bundle of joy – 8 stunning puppies! 🐾❤️
These little ones were found abandoned, but thanks to an amazing foster family they received the love and care they needed to get the best start in life. They are now back in our care and ready to begin their journey to finding forever homes.

Fostering is such a rewarding way to help vulnerable animals grow, thrive, and prepare for their future families. Without our wonderful foster carers, we couldn't do what we do.

🐾 Meet our beautiful girl Lola 🐾

From a tiny puppy to a beautiful young girl, Lola has grown up in our care.

Lola and her siblings were found at a very young age on the side of the Napier–Hastings highway. While all of her siblings have found loving homes, Lola is still waiting for her turn.

She is now one of our long-stay residents, Lola has received NO applications and is still searching for a place to call home. She is a lovely girl who deserves a family of her own and a comfy bed to curl up in every night.

Lola is just one of the many animals in our care, from kittens to puppies, all hoping their perfect family will see them.

📣 Puppies Before Profit – Bring in Breeder Laws! 📣

Today, we’re launching our Puppies Before Profit campaign, to raise awareness around New Zealand’s lack of dog breeding legislation and to build support for law reforms.

Currently, we’re FAR behind other countries when it comes to dog breeding laws. In New Zealand:

🐾 Anyone can breed and sell puppies
🐾 There are no restrictions on the number of breeding dogs a person can keep
🐾 There are no minimum supervision levels
🐾 There are no minimum or maximum ages for breeding
🐾 There are no maximum number of litters across a dog’s lifetime
🐾 There are no restrictions on close inbreeding.

Despite the current lack of specific rules, our recently commissioned survey found that 96% of New Zealanders think dog breeding should be regulated.

This isn’t a niche animal welfare issue. It’s something that New Zealanders deeply care about. We need clear, enforceable standards that apply to all breeders, and ensure every breeding dog receives appropriate care ❤️
