11am - Meet at the Old Boys Pavilion for a cuppa before heading out to Pakowhai Field to support the 1st XV as they take on Francis Douglas Memorial College in Round 7 of the CNI Rugby Competition.

Afterwards, join us for drinks and food at Jarks.

We’d love to see as many of the 2001 crew there as possible - spread the word and rally the troops!

Congrats to Old Boy Ben Dawson (11-15) on winning the Beef & Lamb NZ Emerging Achiever Award. The winners in this year’s Beef + Lamb New Zealand (B+LNZ) Awards were announced at a gala dinner at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre on Wednesday night. Over 400 people attended the celebrations which recognised the people, the technologies and innovations that contribute to New Zealand’s world-leading red meat sector.
Bioeconomy Science Institute Emerging Achiever Award winner:
Ben Dawson (Patoka)
Finalists: • Graham Johnson (Waikato) • Alice Wilson (Wairoa)

The 2026 Bioeconomy Science Institute Emerging Achiever Award goes to … Ben Dawson. 🏆👏

Despite growing up on a dairy farm, Ben Dawson bought his first stud sheep at the age of nine and has been a passionate sheep breeder ever since.

Ben and his wife Molly lease a 226ha sheep and beef farm near Patoka in the Hawke’s Bay, but both have full-time jobs off their lease block, with Ben managing a 500ha drystock farm.

The judges said that Ben Dawson had demonstrated a great range of experience and achievements and was having a positive impact on his rural community through influence and leadership.

They added that Ben had obviously thought carefully about his career and personal goals and developed a clear pathway to achieving them.

They noted that Ben is very active in his community and in the wider sheep industry and one judge commented that being asked to judge at the local pet day is a clear indication that Ben is held in high regard in his community.

Congratulations!

We’re proud to see Lindisfarne College old boy Stuart Curran (09-13) making his mark both in the emergency department and on the rugby field. Whether he’s keeping calm under pressure at Palmerston North Hospital or officiating at the top level of New Zealand rugby, Stuart continues to impress with his leadership, composure and passion for both careers.

Stuart Curran brings a cool approach to doctoring and refereeing. Curran is a tallish gent who exudes calmness, whether in his scrubs in Palmerston North Hospital’s Emergency Department or as a referee in the hurly-burly of rugby. That...

We’ve got Whanganui Collegiate in town next Wednesday, 27 May, for the 70th Annual Winter Sports Exchange.
The first sporting fixture was in 1956 and saw our 1st XV beaten 5-20 by the WCS 3rd XV. 1958 had the 1st XI Hockey teams competing; a 5-3 win to WCS and lastly 1978, finally had Football on the exchange calendar, with a 5-0 win for Collegiate.

The exchange has grown over the years, and this year, will see seven teams travel from Whanganui. The first teams will once again be competing for the Peter Butler Family Shield (Rugby), the Petersen Family Trophy (Football) and the Dr John Wakeman Cup (Hockey)

Here's the 1953 1st XV and an action shot on Pakowhai; along with the 1955 1st XI Hockey boys.
