The ongoing preservation of Keirunga Homestead hit a special note for a descendant of George Nelson on her first-ever visit to New Zealand last month.

When planning her Hawke’s Bay visit, Emma Beresford, great-granddaughter of George Nelson, got in touch with the Keirunga Gardens’ Arts and Crafts Society to ask if she could have a look around the homestead while she was here.

She was very complimentary of the ongoing preservation and development of the homestead and gardens.

This included the refurbishment of the homestead in 2024 into a bookable venue.
