Huge thanks to Mark and the team at Core Refrigeration for their generosity and care during a recent kitchen upgrade at Hospice Waikato. While we funded the install, their team went above and beyond - fixing extra bits, working around our staff, and offering us a wickedly fair deal. Great people doing great work. We’re very grateful.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Dame Susan Hassall, who has recently been appointed a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to education — a truly deserved honour.

Susan joined the Hospice Waikato Board in January 2019 and has been a steadfast source of wisdom, compassion and leadership ever since. In 2024/2025, she generously took a 10‑month sabbatical from the Board to serve as Acting CEO of Hospice Waikato, guiding our organisation with care, clarity and heart during a pivotal time.

We are delighted that Susan has stepped into the role of Board Chair, continuing her commitment to our patients, whānau, staff and wider community. We are deeply grateful for the loving guidance Susan so willingly gives to Hospice Waikato, and we are honoured to walk alongside such an inspiring leader.

🏁✨ And the Winner Is... ✨🏁

A huge congratulations to Jeremy and Sara Baker from Glasshouse Property Management on winning our Hospice & Waikato Montana Food and Events Bucket List Banquet 2026 Premium Raffle... The Luxury Singapore Grand Prix Getaway for Two! 🎉🍾

It was exciting to see Jeremy's name drawn, especially as he is one of our long-time Hospice supporters and a huge Formula 1 fan. Even better, he and his wife Sara was in the room to receive the prize when the winner was announced!

Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket and supported the raffle. Your generosity helps us continue providing specialist palliative care and support to local patients and their whanau.💛

Our annual Bucket List Banquet events are only possible because of the people who believe in the work we do.

We would also like to thank House of Travel for organising this incredible prize package that is surely a bucket list item for our winners.

Congratulations again, Jeremy and Sara. We hope you enjoy every minute of this amazing experience! We can't wait to see your awesome photos! 🏎️✨

We recently had a lovely visit from some amazing student volunteers from Hamilton Girls' High💛

Our wonderful Volunteer Coordinator took the girls through our Head Office, introducing them to the many different people and roles that help make Hospice Waikato what it is. It was such a great opportunity to show them the behind-the-scenes of our organisation and the impact every team plays in supporting our community.

We are so incredibly grateful for all the help these students have given us this year in our Hospice Shops. Their hard work, positivity, and willingness to help has made such a difference.

And to make the visit even more special, our alumni in the Marketing Team got to say hello too 😊

Thank you girls for your time, energy, and support. We love having you as part of the Hospice Waikato whānau ✨

This week, New World stores throughout the Waikato are running a Donate at the Checkout campaign to support Hospice Waikato patients and their whānau — keeping specialist palliative care available at no cost.

We are beyond grateful.

Here’s a video we made for New World staff, sharing what hospice care looks like in their local community. We thought you might like to see it too 💛 -

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
