와이카토한국학교, 뉴질랜드 전국 어린이 말하기 대회 유치!

와이카토한국학교가 뉴질랜드 전역의 차세대 학생들이 한국어로 자신의 꿈을 발표하는 전국 어린이·청소년 말하기 대회를 지난 4월 11일에 유치했습니다.

이번 대회는 **‘우리말 나의 꿈 말하기 대회’**로, 뉴질랜드 곳곳에서 선발된 학생들이 한국어로 자신의 꿈과 미래를 이야기하는 뜻깊은 자리입니다. 올해 대회는 와이카토 윈텍 갤러거 센터에서 열렸으며, 발표자와 학부모, 교사 등 많은 분들이 함께해 한국어 교육과 한인 정체성의 의미를 나누는 시간이 되었습니다.

특히 이번 대회에서는 와이카토한국학교 학생들의 축하 공연과 함께, 와이카토 지역 학생들의 뜻깊은 수상 소식도 있었습니다.

Eunice Jung (NZROK FS) laid a wreath at the cenotaph on ANZAC day on behalf of NZROK Friendship Society. Jung Mi Ko (Co-chairperson, NZROK FS & President, Waikato Korean Association) and Yongjoo Kim (Principal, Waikato Korean School & NZROK FS) also attended the ceremony on our behalf.

At the ANZAC Day celebration, Lee Eun-ha Baek Jeban, a student of Waikato Korean School, participated in the tribute ceremony as well.

The next full public meeting of our society will be held on Thursday, 28 May, at 7.30pm at Trust Waikato Rooms, Little London Lane. Our guest speaker will be Hamilton Mayor Tim Macindoe.

We are teaming up with NZ China Friendship Society to host this meeting together. Please watch this space for further details in early to mid-May.

We warmly welcome a new member to our planning group - Daniel Park. Daniel is a Korean minister from a Presbyterian Church in Korea, now living and working in Hamilton. Amongst other things, he has been running the successful English language groups at Chartwell Cooperating Church for some years.

We warmly welcome a new member to our planning group - Melissa Clark. Melissa has a great interest in Korea and Korean language. She is presently an adult student at the University of Waikato in Korean Studies.
