Splash into Safety is a non-profit event organized by the University of Waikato third-year students in collaboration with the Refugee Organization Center Trust (ROC) to provide swimming lessons to refugees and migrants in Hamilton, Waikato. Furthermore, we provide about water safety skills for pools, rivers and New Zealand beaches, as well as an enjoyable community for participants to connect each

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Cancer Society for their generous sponsorship of our recent event. Their contribution in providing hats and sunscreen has made a significant impact on the success and safety of our gathering. 🎉

💥 Skin cancer in New Zealand is a major concern due to high levels of UV radiation. With over 80,000 cases diagnosed annually, New Zealand has one of the world's highest skin cancer rates. Melanoma alone causes over 300 deaths each year. Additionally, around 50% of New Zealand children experience sunburn during summer, which increases their risk of developing skin cancer later in life.

🤝 The Cancer Society's provision of hats and sunscreen has greatly benefited participants by offering protection from harmful UV rays and safeguarding against skin cancer. Hats provide a physical barrier, while sunscreen with appropriate SPF reduces the risk of sunburn and long-term damage. 🌼🌞
