📣Introducing our panelists 🎤- Eden Keung

Kia ora koutou,

He mokopuna ahau nō Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Hāmoa, me Haina hoki.

I completed my Bachelor of Health Sciences in 2022 and went on to work as a Māori Public Health and Policy Advisor. I later returned to studies, completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health in 2025. I now work as a Project Coordinator in Alcohol Policy and Licensing at Hāpai te Hauora.

Looking forward to the opportunity to share some of my experiences and learnings beyond the BHSc!

📣Introducing our panelists 🎤- Sankalp Lanka

Kia ora koutou katoa, I’m Sankalp, and I’m currently working as a Leadership Support Coordinator for High and Complex Needs & Rehabilitation Services in the Mental Health and Addictions Directorate at Te Toka Tumai | Health New Zealand. I’m also an epidemiology intern evaluating healthcare access for people with dementia in Chile.

I recently graduated with a BHSc/BSc conjoint, majoring in Population Health and Psychology with a Data Analysis module, and my journey has truly been a wild ride! I know the anxiety of trying to land a public health job without postgraduate study all too well, but my transition from uni to the workforce has been such an exciting time. I’ve been very lucky to gain a range of experiences and opportunities, all of which helped shape my pathway.

Looking forward to our kōrero and hopefully making post-BHSc life feel a little less daunting - may the odds be ever in your favour :)

📣Introducing our panelists 🎤- Mariam Pawaiz

Kia ora koutou, my name is Mariam and I am a Public Health Physician currently working in the National Public Health Service in Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora. I did my Bachelor of Health Sciences many years ago and since then I’ve also completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and a Master of Public Health.
Doing the Bachelor of Health Sciences was one of the best decisions I made as a young person, it provided a great platform for my career and helped widen my perspectives on health, wellbeing, and the broader determinants of health.

I have worked across the breadth of public health, including in health protection and outbreak response, health promotion, workforce development, and clinical governance. My favourite part of working in public health is working collectively with dedicated public health professionals to improve population health outcomes and advance towards achieving health equity.

📣Introducing our panelists 🎤- Any Charman Moore

Amy is currently a Management Consulting Analyst at PwC New Zealand. She completed her Health Sciences and Global Studies conjoint last year, and throughout university tried out her fair share of different pathways - including research, health and safety, caregiving and health promotion.

While she enjoyed parts of each, she was never completely sold on any one path. That’s part of what drew her to consulting, where she gets to do a little bit of everything, work across a wide range of projects and constantly learn about new organisations, sectors and problems.

Amy is looking forward to sharing more about her journey beyond the BHSc, how she found her way into consulting, and what she has learnt from trying a few different paths along the way.

📣Introducing our panelists 🎤- Seng Wyn Koo

Kia ora! My name is Seng Wyn and I am a business consultant at EY. I graduated with a BCom/BHSc in 2023 and was fortunate enough to start my journey in the Health team at EY where I’ve had the opportunity to work with and learn from some incredible people.

Throughout my time, I’ve really learnt how valuable the BHSc degree is and how so much of what we learn is applicable in many different scenarios. Excited to chat with you all!
