Happy Te Wiki Hauora Wāhine – Women’s Health Week!

To celebrate we’re recognising the amazing wāhine we work alongside, and with, to help people find the key to change.

This week is about focusing on the health and wellbeing of wāhine across the motu. This year's whakataukī is Me aro koe ki te hā o Hineahuone | Pay heed to the powerful essence of women and acknowledges not only the mana and strength of wāhine, but also their importance. You can find out more at www.womenshealthweek.nz.

If you or someone you know needs some mental health support, we offer counselling that is free in some cases that may be useful. Contact us now to find out more.

If you're an experienced AOD practitioner wanting a new opportunity, this role might be for you. We're looking for someone who is DAPAANZ‑registered, skilled in groupwork, and connected to Pasifika or Māori communities.

Ka pai Aleki 🎉

Aleki, our Clinical Director, recently presented his thesis about the drink‑driving ‘culture’ in Aotearoa through Māori and Pasifika Voice and Wisdom at QUT (Queensland University of Technology). This is his final PhD seminar!

Balancing doctoral study and mahi isn’t easy, but Aleki is so passionate about this and is still always available to help anybody. We are incredibly proud of everything he has achieved so far.

It's Te Wiki Hauora Tāne - Men's Health Week.

Every day, eight Kiwi whānau lose a loved partner, father or tupuna to a preventable illness. It's why we want to share a link to the Men's Health Survey.

We're lucky to work alongside, and with, many great tāne and want to keep helping people find the key to change. If you or someone you know needs support, we offer counselling that is free in some cases.

We cover many topics including alcohol and drugs, grief, and anger management. Find out more at harmonypasifika.org.nz.

Ka pai Tai 🎉

As you’ll see, Tai has officially graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Counselling!

For the past four years, Tai has been part of our team while she studied, becoming a familiar face to many. At the start of the year we promoted her to provisional lead counsellor.

Born and raised in South Auckland, and shaped by her Samoan, Tokelauan and Cook Islands heritage, Tai is committed to helping people find the key to change.

We are incredibly proud of Tai and everything she has achieved. In her own words:

“In doing this, I aim to equip myself so that I may give back to my roots, the grounds that grew me, my community, Manurewa. As your provisional lead counsellor, I am committed to serving you in building a nurturing environment where we can learn from one another.”
