‘We Are Together’: Auckland Wushu Community Unites for China and Nepal Disaster Relief
Auckland, 5 September 2026 — Seventeen Wushu performers took part in a one-hour charity performance at Te Komititanga Square in central Auckland on Saturday afternoon, bringing together members of the community in support of disaster relief efforts in China and Nepal.
The performance began at 2:00pm and continued for an hour, featuring a range of Wushu demonstrations under the themes “WE ARE TOGETHER” and “WUSHU WITHOUT BOUNDARIES.”
The event was initiated by the Asian Community Engagement Trust (ACET), with support from the New Zealand Wushu Development Trust and the New Zealand Wushu Dragon & Lion Dance Federation.
Held in the heart of Auckland CBD, the event used Wushu as a symbol of resilience, solidarity and connection between communities affected by the recent disasters in China and Nepal.
The 17 performers presented a series of Wushu routines over the course of the hour, attracting the attention of people passing through Te Komititanga Square as well as members of the wider community who had come to support the event.
